You can't write a better Bachelor ending than that!
After a combined 47 seasons of the not-so-guilty pleasure reality show we were bound to see bachelors and bachelorettes go from paradise to parenthood. More and more Bachelor alumni are not only staying together, but they're making babies and creating the next generation of Bachelor Nation!
Here are five of our favorite past contestants and their intense and interesting birth stories:
1. Jade + Tanner
Jade Roper, (of Chris Soules' season) did not take home the final rose, getting eliminated in week eight. She eventually found love on the 2nd season of the crazy summer spinoff Bachelor in Paradise with Tanner Tolbert (of Kaitlyn's season). They got married on TV the following summer and became first-time parents to baby girl Emerson in August 2017. This road to happiness, however, wasn't as easy as it looked on television.
Jade and Tanner recently revealed on Instagram via a YouTube video that she got pregnant during the filming of Bachelor in Paradise, having conceived during an overnight fantasy suite date with Tanner. Jade then shared, "I had a miscarriage. These words have burned inside me for over three years." She added "my journey with my grief has been a rollercoaster, and so I've never even known really where to start with telling others." Grateful for the supportive comments received on social media, Jade said "they've made me feel very loved and have made me feel less alone."
When Emerson (who has her own Instagram (@emmy_tobert) arrived in 2017 she came into the world early, but not quite as quickly as her little brother, who was (accidentally) born in the Tolbet's home this week.
"I accidentally gave birth at home last night, in our master closet," Jade wrote on Instagram. "I've been still processing the shock of this all, as this was not all at what I had planned, but I am so so thankful for each person who helped bring our son into the world safely. I'll share my whole birth story soon, but long story short, my waters broke and 75 minutes later I gave birth to our healthy baby boy while clutching a bench in our closet."
We are so happy that everyone is safe and sound, but the Tolbert's stories prove that parenthood can be just as dramatic as reality TV!
2. Shayne + Nik
Eighties TV heartthrob Lorenzo Lamas' daughter, Shayne Lamas, won season 12 of The Bachelor when British bachelor Matt Grant proposed. The two tried to make it work but split less than a year later. Shayne then met and married Internet personality Nik Richie in 2010 and the couple welcomed daughter Press Dahl Lamas-Richie in 2011.
Following a near-fatal second pregnancy in 2014, it was Shayne's stepmother Shawna Craig who stepped in to be their surrogate.
In 2015, Nik and Shayne welcomed son Lyon Lamas-Richie to the world. Shayne told reporters at the time, "Shawna's not just my stepmother. She's like a soul sister."
3. Carly + Evan
Fan favorites Carly Waddell (of Chris Soules' season) met Evan Bass (of JoJo Fletcher's season) on season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise. When we say these two didn't initially hit it off, we are not exaggerating.
It took Evan faking his own medical emergency during Bachelor in Paradise to get Carly to hop into the ambulance, then eventually straight into Evan's heart.
Since their season wrapped, these two cuties fell head over heels and got married back on the same beach where they met. Carly became a stepmom to Evan's three sons Nathan, Liam, and Ensley, then they had a baby girl Isabella and are now expecting baby number two in November! This blended family truly cannot get any cuter, please keep having babies!
4. Lauren + Arie
Can The Bachelor be a villain? Well, some say "if the rose fits"!
Bachelor Nation watched as race car driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. (of Emily Maynard's season) proposed to Becca Kufrin then publicly dumped poor Becca, then proceeded to propose to runner-up Lauren Burnham during the After The Final Rose episode. But I digress, we are here to talk babies. And yes, Arie and Lauren welcomed a baby girl in May and seem very much in love.
A baby girl named Alessi Ren. Arie recently posted to Instagram a captioned photo of some snuggling saying "Fatherhood is the best. I think my heart just grew two sizes".
The couple is now coming under social fire however as Lauren posted a snap to Instagram June 5 of a lunch date with a friend, leaving one week old Alessi Ren home with grandma. We're still looking for the problem with that and according to People magazine, so is Arie:
"To all the negative comments regarding leaving her with grandma for a 45min lunch, cut her some slack! It was my idea because she has been working so hard to keep up and quite frankly I commend her for 1. Being an incredible mom and getting the breast feeding down enough to make sure she had enough while she was at lunch. (Moms know that breastfeeding can be difficult) and 2. So much of being a good parent is making sure you take care of yourself. She wanted a healthy meal with her sister who is in town. I get so frustrated at the comments because she is such a kind soul and takes these comments to heart. Be kind people!"
Papa is not here for this! Good job Dad.
5. Bekah with a K + Grayston
Bekah Martinez (of Arie's season) was the outspoken contestant with the cutest pixie cut and opinions for days. Fans fell for her honest (sometimes even brash) nature as we watched Bekah defend her young age throughout the whole season. Thirty-six-year-old Bachelor Arie fell hard, but then quickly backed away when he learned Bekah was only 22.
While Bekah didn't get the final rose, she was cast on Bachelor in Paradise but plans abruptly changed when she announced she was expecting her first child with climbing gym owner and new boyfriend Grayston Leonard. In a 2018 Bekah reflected on the moment they found out they were expecting after just a few months of dating. "I was in disbelief and thought, is this really happening?". She then stated "I immediately called Grayston and then went across the street to the Dollar Tree and bought two more pregnancy tests. They of course, were both positive."
Fast forward to February 2019, Bekah and Grayston welcomed 7 lb 10 oz Ruth Ray De La Luz into the world via water birth in Los Angeles. A water birth that was heavily documented and shared via Bekah's Instagram. On June 21, the 8-minute YouTube video of the unmedicated water birth was posted and is garnering quite a bit of media attention.
Bekah makes no apologies for sharing this powerful moment, sharing to Instagram that "Ruth's birth is officially up on YouTube, linked in bio."
Wow. You can't write a better Bachelor ending than that!
