What kind of shoes should you get your little one once he starts walking? Whenever possible, barefoot is best. But once he's ready to get outside, you'll want to protect and support his cute little feet -- but not with any kind of shoes!
The Pediatric Patient Association has a list of qualities mommas need to look for in a first walker shoe:
- The shoe should be flexible in the forefoot, which allows their feet to flex up and down and side to side.
- The middle of the shoe should provide more stability, and the heel of the shoe should offer their little heel a cushion.
- The shoe should be breathable! Babies' feet sweat twice as much as adult feet (without the stink! Phew...), so make sure the shoe is made of a material that's breathable, like leather or mesh.
- The soles should provide traction so they don't take too many tumbles. In this case, rubber is best!
