"I don't believe there's only one-way-or-the-highway and we all have to adapt into our own routines," says Kardashian.
When you come from a family of strong women, you've got a built-in support system of motherhood mentors. Just ask Khloé Kardashian.
The 33-year-old welcomed daughter True Thompson on April 12, following her sisters Kourtney, Kim and Kylie into #momlife.
Kardashian is definitely going to be in the driver's seat when it comes to raising True, but she's happy to have her family of fellow moms along for the ride. "Even though I'm not big on taking advice—I don't believe there's only one-way-or-the-highway and we all have to adapt into our own routines—it's so comforting to know that I have sisters whom I can ask about anything that may come up," Kardashian wrote on her subscription-based app. "Just by observing them as moms, I've already learned so much."
There are some things Kardashian has already taken her sisters' advice on. Like Kourtney and Kim before her (she previously stated she planned to have her placenta made into pills like they did) but there's also been some advice that she's decided not to heed.
Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Back in January, Kardashian said her sister Kourtney (whose been a mom the longest of the sisters) has a lot of thoughts on parenting, not all of which she agrees with. "Kourtney gives a lot of advice. I think it's so sweet but I don't want to do some of that stuff," she said, adding that she doesn't share her sister's opinion on plastic toys (Kourtney's not a fan) and the two were divided over the younger sister wanting a TV in True's nursery. "When you're breastfeeding or whatever, I need a TV… She thinks she's better than I because she doesn't watch TV but I like TV shows," she told Kimmel.
Kourtney has been a mom longer than her sisters, but of course there are a couple of women in the Kardashian fam who have been moms even longer than she has. True's great-grandmother, Mary Jo "M.J." Shannon has more than 60 years of experience as a mom, and her grandmother, Kris Jenner, has raised six kids (and built an empire while doing it). Khloé Kardashian has a lot of respect for how her media mogul mom and her dad, the late Robert Kardashian, brought her up.
"There's absolutely no way I could pick just one parenting technique I've learned from my mom," Kardashian wrote. "She's just so incredible and has taught me so much. But, the one thing I would take from how my dad was with us is unconditional love. It's the entire point of family."
On this, Kardashian is definitely right, and anyone with sisters knows she's right about something else too: We can appreciate their advice without always taking it.
