Name: Lauren Barlow Neighborhood: Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Occupation: Fashion Business Consultant Baby’s Sex: Girl How would you describe your pregnant style? Fashionably comfortable. I love stretchy form-fitting basic bottom layers mixed with oversized stylish top layers. Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy? I was resistant to maternity pants because I found the waistbands uncomfortable. In the beginning, I experimented with cutting out the waistbands all together, but the pants fell down. Ultimately, my solution is to wear sized up non-maternity elastic waistband pants and roll the waistband down. In my 7th month, however, I realized if I wanted to wear jeans, I had to give in to maternity styles. It took a while to find a style where the seam was low enough to not press my bladder and the band was stretchy enough to not feel constricted. So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy? Many things have surprised me throughout my pregnancy like the challenge of putting on/taking off my shoes after month 8 or my doctors shocking advice to stop eating carbs (which has been impossible). The biggest surprise is how helpful my weekly visit to my prenatal chiropractor and regularly practicing prenatal yoga has been to keep my mind and body aligned. What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump? I love the wearability and styling of HATCH, however, the items I wear most are my Old Navy ribbed maternity tanks. They are the perfect length, stretch, and layering piece. What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby? Brooklyn Bridge Park. It's close to my pad, has beautiful views, and is fun for both kids and parents.
