How would you describe your pregnant style?

My style has definitely been no-frills, and has no extra effort involved. Some new leggings thrown into the mix, bought at stores on the way home after work, and long stretchy shirts to go over them, since for the visible part of this pregnancy has been during the colder months, and I have worked throughout the entire thing in photo studios on physical jobs. Thank goodness, covering up has been easy and fun! I went to a few thrift stores upstate, in Hudson, and got some fun coats to throw over the stretch outfits when it got really cold a few weeks ago. Also, having sweet jewelry is extra-important now, as it can make me feel cheerier and take the focus off of being enormous. My Nettie Kent bracelets have been a godsend. Focusing on my wrists, haha.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy?

It shocked me how quickly this second pregnancy showed compared to my first, and it sent my usual favorite jeans right back into the drawer. There was no hiding or pretending for very long with this one--I pretty much had to go straight to stretchier clothes and bigger tops. Also, being the mom of a 3-year-old does not leave much time for fussing around with extra-special styles or for buying new clothes. I just used what I had already, and have made it work so far!

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?

How, now that I am already a mom, I have had so little down time to rest and think about this upcoming kid. I have read no books or articles online whatsoever about pregnancy this time. There has also been so little time to prepare anything for him as far as baby essentials; I have left it all for the last month! I just started getting prenatal massages, having realized that it's about time to check in and focus on my body and what it needs to do soon. My daughter and work have kept me so busy, it surprises me how pregnancy following your first baby is so different.

What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump?

A large men's wool hooded toggle coat that I got at Uniqlo. I love it, and it keeps me warm while providing room for the bump.

What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?

That's a great question. I think just taking him to all of the neighborhoods and places that I love to bring my daughter to all over NYC. Parks, mostly. I think, with this one though, that I will be less ambitious about going out and about everywhere right away. I learned my lesson with the first baby; that lugging bags and the stroller, and hustling to go out is sometimes not as relaxing as just staying local and realizing that the baby months go by fast, and that there is no need to run around so much. Especially with feeding, naps and changing to do. Maybe I am older and lazier now, which kind of feels good, honestly.
