Name: Stacy Shoemaker Rauen Neighborhood: Williamsburg Occupation: Editor of Hospitality Design magazine; co-founder of Bump Water Baby’s Sex: Identical boys How would you describe your pregnant style? I try to be chic yet comfortable. I live in jeans with cute t-shirts and cardigans or vests, or jersey and cotton dresses (especially in the summer) with leggings or tights (in the fall/winter). I am not afraid to show off my bump so the dresses are usually form fitting. Commuting everyday working full time and chasing around a two-year-old, flats are usually a key part of any outfit. This is my second pregnancy so I have tried to re-wear items and fill in as needed so I didn’t have to buy too many new clothes. And thank goodness for hand-me-downs from my fashionable friends. Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy? I am pregnant with twins (insert eek here!) so I am definitely bigger this time around than with my first. I have had many mornings where I have tried on three to four outfits with no success. Pants and dresses are fine, but finding shirts that fit over my massive belly (especially the last few weeks) has been a challenge to say the least. So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy? How different carrying twins is than a singleton. Seems obvious, but besides being monitored much more frequently (I feel like I live at the doctor and hospital) it’s been an amazing experience to feel and watch these two grow in my belly—it’s really a miracle. When one kicks it wakes the other and they start kicking back and forth, or when one flips he shifts my entire stomach to one side. I guess it is just a preview of what’s to come! What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump? Pea and the Pod has been great to shop for some of my favorite pieces like BCBG dresses and AG maternity jeans. What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby? Well, with two newborns it might be tough getting out of the house in the winter, but when we do, walks along the river (we are right by it in Williamsburg) and morning coffee chats. We expanded our place in Brooklyn to stave off a move to the suburbs, so basically just enjoying the convenience of city life.
