Baby’s Sex: It’s a surprise!

How would you describe your pregnant style?

I love well-fitting basics. This is my second pregnancy and I learned the first time around to not stray too far from what I love when I’m pregnant. I definitely prefer fitted to flowy and I’ve found some amazing tee’s, jeans, and dresses that flatter my baby bump and make me feel great.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during pregnancy?

The biggest challenge is how much changes! It’s not just your belly. But some of those changes can be fun (hello, pregnancy hair!) and can be managed with great products. I consider Borghese’s Fango Active and Purificante masks a lifesaver in the absence of retinol creams during pregnancy. It’s all about finding a way to feel confident and beautiful despite that you may not actually feel your best. I find that it’s easier to accept all the changes my body is going through if I focus on the positives of pregnancy: that pretty glow that is even prettier when I’m not broken out and the new, thick hair I now enjoy!

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?

Well to start, the nausea. I didn’t experience it with my son, Jack, and was absolutely shocked by how bad it could get. Throughout this pregnancy I’ve been taking classes at Local Barre in Hoboken, which I love and I think have helped me stay stronger this time around than last time when I was exclusively jogging and walking. I surprised myself the other day by doing 20 push ups and feeling really great about it:) Pregnant women are strong!

What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump?

My go to pieces are this tee from A Pea in The Pod, this Ingrid and Isabel dress, and Gap Maternity jeans.

What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?

We live in Hoboken on the Hudson River, directly across from midtown NYC and I love listening to my son announce the boats going into and out of the ferry slip. Some of our favorite things to do include taking the ferry or the path with my husband and strolling through some of our favorite neighborhoods. These days, we usually check out one of Jack’s favorite spots - The Central Park Zoo, The Museum of Natural History, The Carousel at Pier 62, and The Intrepid rank high - and typically open a great restaurant. One very real bonus of having young children in NYC is that we usually have our pick of amazing restaurants thanks to a 5:30 pm dinner time. I can’t wait to add this little nugget to our crew for more fun - if not a bit more chaotic - times!
