By Ellen Schmidt May 5, 2021 Amy Schumer/Instagram Rectangle We all know Amy Schumer is hilarious, but I also appreciate how she keeps things refreshingly honest, especially when it comes to motherhood and her relationship with husband Chris Fischer. In her latest post on Instagram, she shares a beautiful message about her husband, including his journey with autism spectrum disorder, in honor of her son Gene’s 2nd birthday. “Today is our son’s birthday and I woke up emotional as hell thinking about my husband, Chris. In this first photo while I was having a 3 hour c section he held my hand and stared in my eyes so I never felt alone. I feel loved and supported always. He takes care of our family and is a husband and father beyond my wildest dreams,” writes Schumer. In Amy’s recent HBO Max documentary, Expecting Amy, the couple revealed Chris’ autism spectrum disorder diagnosis. “Being tested and diagnosed has helped us communicate and support each other better”, she writes. Raising awareness is a critical component to normalizing autism spectrum disorder, and it is wonderful that Amy and Chris have chosen to be so public about his diagnosis. “We want to encourage parents and people to give themselves the gift of information so people can function to the best of their abilities and remove any stigma that comes with autism. Statistically our son most likely will be diagnosed as well and if he’s anything like his father that is wonderful news,” writes Schumer. In honor of Gene’s second birthday, a tribute to his father. I love this so much, and especially how she ends the post, sharing a couple of the sweetest things about having a toddler. “So on our babies birthday where he held my hand tight and held me with his eyes I want to say I love you thank you and happy birthday little geenie panini we love you as much as you love school busses. ?” Related Stories Celebrity News Jessica Biel hopes to ‘normalize the discussion around periods’ with her new kids’ book Celebrity News Halle Bailey bravely and candidly opens up about her ‘severe’ postpartum depression Celebrity News Hilary Duff says she’s ‘no longer responding’ to messages asking when her baby is coming The latest Viral & Trending This mom’s hack for getting a bead out of her toddler’s nose will make you stop scrolling Celebrity News Halle Bailey bravely and candidly opens up about her ‘severe’ postpartum depression Viral & Trending Biscuits! ‘Bluey’ crew member says the show is officially done on Reddit Viral & Trending Mom brings baby to Coachella and offers advice for parents who want to do the same
