There’s nothing like this spring in the city: the sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and flowers are poking their way through the dirt that surrounds the neighborhood trees. But, it’s hard to keep your skin balanced when the weather is constantly changing. And even more so if you’re pregnant, and your skin is already out of whack without needing any extra help from the weather.

I’m all about that moisturizing life, and even if you think you’re the clear when it comes to hydrating your skin, it’s more important than ever to stay on top of it during pregnancy. Which makes it a great time to try body oils, which permeate the skin deeper than traditional lotions and feel so luxurious.

Take time to massage a body oil into your skin. Luxuriate in the smooth vibes of the oils that can help ease anxiety, headaches, and promote relaxation. You can also layer body oils under your usual moisturizers or creams for added hydration. And if it floats your boat, oil up your pregnant belly to keep those stretch marks (allegedly!) at bay.

And remember, some body oils may feel greasier or heavier to you than to the person next to you. It’s all about trial and error to see what works the best with your skin composition. Give yourself a chance and see what feels right to you. Try applying thicker oils, such as coconut oil, while still in the shower with the water running so that the steam really helps it sink in without getting too greasy.

Below, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite body oils. As always, these options are natural and non-toxic, safe for both you and your little one
