How would you describe your pregnant style?
For someone that loves the fashion industry so much, I don’t actually wear a lot of fashion-y stuff day-to-day. I’m pretty much a uniform dresser. When I wasn’t pregnant, I wore a lot of ripped jeans, t-shirts or oversized sweaters, and boots or sneakers. I stuck with that for a while into my pregnancy. I especially recommend Acne sweaters for winter pregnancies. So comfy and you still feel like a normal fashionable person! For spring/summer, I picked up a bunch of Hatch Collection stuff that’s been great. My new uniform go-tos are jumpers and stretchy midi tank dresses. Oh, and I love that Birkenstocks are everywhere this summer. I’ve always had at least one pair in my closet (I blame years and years of summer camp), but this year there are so many more fun colors and limited-edition versions.
Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy?
I was completely unprepared for the boob situation. I've been a small B my entire life and dressing D (yes, D.) boobs now is a whole new ball game. And bras for big chested women suck. They have so much fabric and you feel like a total granny. After shopping for bras every weekend for an entire trimester, I finally found some great stuff at American Apparel. As long as you're comfortable not being totally harnessed in, I say forget underwire and go with a more sports-bra like cut. The American Apparel bras are great because they have that sporty comfy cut, but are still skimpy enough to feel sexy.
So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?
I'm hesitant to say this because I know a lot of women have really tough pregnancies, but I guess it's also important to share the good experiences--I've been surprised by how easy it's been! My body really came through for me on this one, and even though I'm at a part of the scale I've never seen before and definately have some new layers of fat, I've never had a better relationship with my body.
What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump?
Most of my favorite stuff is tight and stretchy (and anything with a built-in bra is glorious these days). It feels way more flattering than the billowy stuff.
What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?
We live in DUMBO so we're pretty excited about all the new additions to Brooklyn Bridge Park and strolling around with her there.
