Name: Sammy Smith Coleman

Neighborhood: Boerum Hill, Brooklyn

Occupation: P/T social worker and SAH mama

Number Pregnancy: Second

How would you describe your pregnant style? Casual and pretty laid back. Taking care of a toddler all day requires comfy clothes! On a typical day I'm wearing jeans and an oversized sweater or sweatshirt. My preferred pregnancy shoes are clog boots. Or clogs of any kind. I own a bunch. If I'm working or going out, I like to wear an unstructured dress.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your pregnant body? I've had to learn how to dress bigger boobs. My two-year-old asked me the other day, "Mama, are you going to wear your boobies today?" I wish I could say no! Before I could wear any kind of top and now I am aware of the challenges larger chested women face. I was naive before having children.

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy? It goes by a lot faster the second time around. I'm less aware of the changes to my body now that my focus is other places. I'm also older and amazed how differently I'm treated with regards to prenatal tests and visits. I have far more sonograms and doctors visits this time around than with my daughter. It seems excessive, but at the same time, oddly comforting. I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about it.

What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump? I bought a non-maternity dress from Anthropologie that is serving me well. My friends without kids have been asking me where I bought it. I prefer to shop at regular stores and search for things that will work with my bump.

What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby? Cruising around my neighborhood in Brooklyn, heading to our favorite local shops and restaurants.
