1. How would you describe your style while pregnant?
I'd describe my style as laid-back, pretty hip and belly proud! I never hide the bump, but try to incorporate it, using it as an accessory.
2. What are some of your go-to shopping spots in NYC while pregnant?
I have been not going to any maternity stores. I stick to some basic stores like H&M, Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Shopbop.com. Also, I got a great Elie Tahari Wrap coat on Gilt.com!
3. Do you have a very favorite pregnancy piece? What makes it so great?
My favorite pregnancy is piece is definitely my free people corduroy overalls (pictured here). They’re perfect for pregnancy, because they are skinny and cute, yet very adjustable for the growth of the bump. Also, I have a Barneys Co-op leather biker jacket that has a zipper insert in the front, so it actually expands (also shown in the photo). These are not maternity pieces, but the ideas behind them are perfect for the cause!
4. What's your biggest challenge when getting dressed while pregnant?
My biggest challenge has been, by far, not wearing my heels! I am a true heel-wearer and with the issues of balance or risk of falling, I have been requested (by my husband) to stash the heels away and get flats. Though I have made great use out of my moto boots, I still need the lift! I've adjusted to a lower, chunkier heel which gives me the support and the height, but it is still not easy. Also, skirts: not easy to wear while pregnant!
5. Any advice for NYC women when it comes to pregnancy fashion?
Don't be afraid to show the bump! it is so sexy and cool...plus you always get smiles from people. Stick with non-maternity clothes as much as you can. You would be surprised how much you can adapt these things to working well with your new shape. It is so much fun to play around and see how to make things work!
