How would you describe your pregnant style?

It’s all about comfortable basics and flowy dresses that I can layer upon with existing pieces from my closet like cropped leather jackets or kimonos and statement accessories.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy?

I’ve tried not to spend a ton on “maternity” clothes and looked for roomy items that can also stay in rotation postpartum. For maternity, I did get a few dresses from ASOS and a few pairs of moto jeans from H&M which I ended up loving more than any of the pricey stuff I tried on. Being petite (aka short), my biggest challenge was making sure it didn’t look like I was wearing a tent and finding clothes that would hug me in the right places. I’ve actually loved wearing body-con dresses that show off the belly (something I would have never embraced pre-pregnancy!).

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?

One of the most amazing things about pregnancy is that every day is so incredibly personal and such a universal experience all at the same time. An unexpected perk to subway life has been connecting with fellow New Yorkers (and a little restored faith in humanity!). There are so many warm people out there when your eyes are open. Lots of women (and men too) have shared knowing glances with me when they see me waddling their way in the city. I’ve been particularly blown away by the number of taps on my shoulder to offer me a seat on the subway. From teenage boys to elderly women, people of all shapes and sizes (and many foreign languages!) have stepped up to share their spot when I’m more than happy to stand. Good ‘ol fashioned manners never go out of style and really brighten the day. I’ve definitely been inspired to pay it forward; thoughtfulness is indeed contagious.

What are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?

I look forward to sharing lots of laughter, love, and what I’ve learned so far in this life. I’m a firm believer that what you believe is possible for you is what you will become, and I want to teach my daughter that happiness is a choice and to go after whatever her heart desires. I also can’t wait for what she will share with me, I am certain she will inspire what’s coming next.
