When I think about the Super Bowl, two things come to mind: funny commercials and tasty snacks. If you’re preparing Super Bowl treats for your family this year, the name of the game (pun intended) is to offer a spread of snacks loaded with proteins and vitamins that will keep everyone’s energy levels up the entire game.

Traditional Super Bowl snacks might be all about the chips and salsa but we’ve also got some healthy Super Bowl snacks that everyone is sure to love. You can even make some of these ahead of time to save yourself a few extra minutes come game day. And, of course, your little one can help with the prep too because there are so many ways kids can help in the kitchen.

7 favorful Super Bowl snack recipes

1. Black bean and corn salsa dip

Mix together, black beans, corn, diced tomatoes, chopped red onions, jalapeños, chopped cilantro, lime juice, black pepper, cumin and a dash of olive oil. You can also add a dollop of honey for a sweet kick. Serve with chips as a dip. You can load it up on a pan full of chips, generously top with cheese and stick in the oven for a few minutes for nachos.

2. Zucchini boats

Cut your zucchini in half lengthwise and again, clockwise. Then, scoop out the inside so you have enough room for your toppings. Brush the zucchini very lightly with a little olive oil and stick it in the air fryer for about 5 minutes. Mash an avocado, then add lime juice, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes, chopped onions and top it off with shredded cheese. You can also add shredded chicken or ground beef.

3. Artichoke Wings

Using a canned water-packed artichokes, drain the artichokes and pat them dry with a towel. Then, arrange your dipping bowls: one bowl should melted butter and the other should be a combination of bread crumbs, shredded cheese and salt. Dip each artichoke in the butter then in the crumbs and arrange them on your air fryer basket or on an oven sheet. Lightly spray with oil then let them cook for about 8 minutes before flipping and spraying the back. Serve with your family’s favorite dipping sauce.

4. Peanut butter and chocolate fruit board

Your fruit board doesn’t have to have fancy fruits but just the ones your family normally gravitates to. Once you’ve arranged your strawberries, apple slices or oranges, you can prepare your drizzles. Use melted white and milk chocolate, nutter butter or peanut butter, and drizzle it all over the fruits. You can also provide a little more on the side for extra dipping.

5. Tater tot skewers

You can start with a bag of frozen tater tots or make your own using sweet potatoes for a healthier option. Cook your tater tots in the oven. Chop some tomatoes and avocados in circular shapes. Chop up some green onions. Once the tots are done, grab a skewer and load up a tater tot, tomato and avocado. You can order them however you like or, even, add bell peppers or small pieces of cooked chicken. Then, melt a bowl of cheese and mix in the green onions. Drizzle the cheese over the skewers and enjoy!

6. Brie quesadillas

Super Bowl snacks don’t get much better than these brie-filled quesadillas. Spread a little bit of cream cheese and your go-to jam on one side of the tortilla. Then, sprinkle chopped green onions, chopped fresh spinach and chopped arugula on top. Finish it off with a few apple slices and some brie. Fold the other half of the tortilla over, press down and transfer to a hot skillet over medium heat. Cook both sides until golden brown and serve.

7. Coconut shrimp

You can use fresh (peeled and deveined) or frozen shrimp, just be sure to completely thaw the frozen ones. First, coat the shrimp in a flour, salt and pepper mixture. Then, dip it into an egg wash and lastly, coat both sides of the shrimp in a mixture of shredded coconut and breadcrumbs. You can fry them in a pot of oil or brush the shrimp with oil and toss it into your air fryer for a healthier alternative. Serve with a sweet chili sauce.
