In times of fear and uncertainty, leave it to the moms to step up in a big way. As protests have happened across the country over the past week and thousands of demonstrators have been arrested, some celebrity mamas are opening up their wallets to bail the protesters out of jail.

Model-turned-cookbook author Chrissy Teigen kicked things off by initially pledging a major donation of $100,000. But when a Twitter user replied with a snide comment likening protesters to criminals, Teigen doubled down and doubled her donation to a cool $200,000.

Mom of three Blake Lively shared that she and husband Ryan Reynolds also made a $200,000 donation to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Even more importantly, Lively also shared that the couple is committing to educating themselves and their children about racism, and recognizing that the color of their skin has exempted them from the fears of police brutality that black families must grapple with.

“We’ve never had to worry about preparing our kids for different rules of law or what might happen if we’re pulled over in the car, she wrote. “We can’t imagine feeling that kind of fear and anger. We’re ashamed that in the past we’ve allowed ourselves to be uninformed about how deeply rooted systemic racism is.”

Actress Gabrielle Union shared that she planned to donated to the Louisville Community Bail Fund in honor of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman who asleep in her bed when police executing a search warrant busted in and shot her in March.

Scandal star Kerry Washington offered up not just monetary donations, but also something badly needed right now: a little bit of inner peace. The actress hosted a yoga and meditation session on Instagram live, pledging to give money to Black Visions Collective and the Louisville Bail Fund for every person that joined.

Rapper Kehlani has shared screenshots of her donations, including $1,000 to the Minnesota Freedom Fund. She’s also been vocal about calling on fellow musicians, celebrities, and bands to do the same.

Actress-turned-activist Cynthia Nixon offered up the same amount to the same fund.

Mom-to-be Gigi Hadid expressed her intention to support bail funds on Twitter, seeking advice about the most reputable ones to donate.

Celebrities are sometimes criticized for staying out of controversies when they fear speaking out could alienate some fans—and eventually hurt their bottom line. Kudos to these famous mamas for being unafraid to take a stand with both their words and their wallets.
