Is there such thing as too many cute newborn baby photos? Because if so, this series of brand-new babies decked out in LA Lakers merch might be a contender. In honor of what would have been Kobe Bryant‘s 43rd birthday, the Los Angeles Lakers put together some adorable care packages for families of newborns who were born on August 24th at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital.

Kobe’s birthday is 8/23 and his jersey numbers are 8 and 24, hence Kobe Day being 8/24—it pays tribute to his work and his life. And now, newborns who share his birthday received sweet care packages from the team.

The basketball team gifted the babies and their parents some swag bags full of Mamba merch to celebrate “Kobe Day.” And the letter the babies received from the team will make things a little dusty in here, fair warning. It’s been over a year-and-a-half since Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, were tragically killed in a helicopter crash along with a few parents as well as Gianna’s teammates. But his legacy lives on in so many ways—and this one is particularly meaningful.

“On this special day, we want to honor Kobe Bryant and celebrate you,” it reads. “”Kobe loved his family, and so this Kobe Day, we’re giving you and your family three Mamba shirts: two for your loved ones and one for you to grow into someday.”

Kobe’s widow, Vanessa, shared the sweet gesture in honor of her late husband (and daughter Gianna) on her own Instagram page.

The gift bundles included classic #24 Lakers shirts, a #8 baby cap, and a sweet little baby Lakers blanket to swaddle them in. It’s so cool to see how excited the parents (many of them are, of course, big Kobe fans) are about receiving their swag.

According to Yahoo! News, Kobe once said, “If you really want to create something that lasts generations, you have to help inspire the next generation.”
