We like to think we know how to shop. It’s a skill that’s mostly genetic, a little bit learned and really, really, really practiced. But even we need help from the experts sometimes. And there’s nobody that knows it better than the editors of Racked, who break down the shopping and style scene in all of our favorite big cities around the country.
So, of course, ever since we found out Racked LA’s editor-in-chief was pregnant, we’ve been glued to her Instagram feed--a girl with this much shopping savvy sure knows how to put together a lustworthy maternity wardrobe. With her first little one--a boy!--due in September, she’s been busy hitting up the shops in and around her Hollywood nabe...and looking totally Bump Enviable the whole time. Below, she fills us in on what she's been wearing these past 9 months, and helps us get acquainted with the best LA shopping for a mama-to-be.
How would you describe your maternity style? What have been some of your fave brands and pieces so far?
For day, I wear tunics with shorts. For night, I like form-fitting dresses. Although I haven't had to buy much maternity wear (all my regular flowy clothes still fit), I do have a few pieces from Hatch Collection that I love.
What's the biggest advantage to working in the fashion industry while pregnant?
It's fun for a fashion girl because you have a new silhouette to style. I'm actually really going to miss styling the bump when it's gone!
What’s it like being pregnant in LA vs. somewhere else?
It's the best. The weather is perfect, and I can easily drive wherever I need to, unlike other places that are more pedestrian-focused.
What's the mama community like in your hood? Is it kid-friendly?
Absolutely! The LA mommy scene is totally a thing. Everyone sticks together, offers invaluable support and shares your excitement.
What are you most looking forward to about having a baby in LA?
Taking my little dude to the beach!
