Name: Mindie Lemelman Neighborhood: Upper East Side Occupation: Speech Language Pathologist Baby’s Sex: It's a surprise! How would you describe your pregnant style? It is mostly similar to my pre-pregnancy style. I wear lots of skinny jeans, flowy tops and fun accessories. Some days, I like to wear something fitted and let my bump be the accessory! Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy? Yes! Pregnancy is reminiscent of my pre-teen years when children's clothes were too small and women's wear didn't quite fit. There was a time during my pregnancy when I was "in between". I wore a Bella Band for a small period of time and then converted to maternity pants, which happen to be the most comfortable pants I own. I may never want to wear jeans with out an elastic band ever again! So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy? Being that this is my first pregnancy, everything has been a surprise. I have learned a lot about myself and about being pregnant in general. I've talked to pregnant women in the past about what it feels like to be pregnant and now I'm experiencing it firsthand. It's like I'm now in "the club". To start off, I discovered a love for prenatal yoga which has been a great place to relax, stretch and meet some other cool pregnant ladies from my neighborhood. But, my favorite surprising moments have been seeing the baby on sonograms and feeling kicks . It makes everything feel so real. What’s been your favorite pregnancy piece or brand to show off your bump? I bought a few pairs of corduroy maternity jeans by Blank NYC. I like how they are skinny and fitted on my legs. What NYC experience are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby? I feel really lucky to be a New Yorker because this city has so much to offer. I'm so excited to share all of my favorite NYC experiences with my new family of 3. I can't wait to picnic in Central Park and sit outside at brunch on a sunny day. Just about all of us had set assumptions about raising kids before we became parents ourselves. Some of these ideas might have been based on our own ideas of how we would absolutely do things differently than everyone else. Others, we believed what everyone else told us would happen would apply to our littles, too. But, that's not always the case, mama.

Below are six of the biggest lies I believed before having kidsβ€”and the reality of what actually happened for me.

1. Put your baby down drowsy, but awake
