We’ve all heard the saying “As American as apple pie.” And while a good apple pie is nothing to complain about, there are just so many other great flavors that deserve to be recognized (and indulged) with the same amount of patriotism. I mean, we are supposed to be a melting pot, no?

So in honor of the 4th of July, America, and the freedom to choose your individual pie preference, I took it upon myself to try various pies and pies shops throughout our delicious city. It was a difficult task and some decisions were harder to make than others, which meant I had to try a few of the places on the list several times. I’m thorough that way.

Here are the pies and pie shops making the top of my list. All ready to satisfy a different crust-filled craving.
