Ever wonder what medical professionals look like when they step out the hospital door? Emergency room physician’s assistant Lynzy Coughlin shows us that sometimes under those hospital scrubs, there’s fashion and style. We’re big fans of Coughlin’s blog, Sparkling Footsteps, and her chic maternity wardrobe, fitness tips and pregnancy perspectives. Read on and join our lovefest for this Connecticut mama-to-be.
How would you describe your personal style? Has it changed as your bump has grown?
My personal style really depends on the day. I love to match my outfit to how I am feeling. For example, if I am feeling extra feminine, I will throw on lace and high heels and really get into my makeup routine that day. My style has changed slightly since being pregnant. I have purchased so many dresses from ASOS - they are so flattering and very well priced.
How does being in the medical profession affect your perspective on birthing and hospitals?
I worry more because I know more about what is going on. I’ve had a few bumps in the road and being in the medical field, I think I worried more than necessary. However, it is great to know all of the best OB-GYN's and how to handle different situations, such as what medications are safe in pregnancy.
Why is CT a great place to be an expectant mama?
CT is a great place to be an expectant mama because the weather (most of the time) is absolutely gorgeous. It has been rather hot lately, but I am looking forward to the last couple weeks of my pregnancy which will be in the beginning of fall. It’s my favorite time of the year here in New England!
What’s your nursery inspiration?
Our nursery is very French inspired and romantic. Very light, airy colors with a feminine touch to it.
Are you finding out whether you're having a boy or girl?
We are having a little baby girl. We named her Olivia :)
How has pregnancy treated you overall?
Pretty good! I really can't complain too much, although, they don't tell you about all the unexpected things that come with it. It really is uncomfortable. But I wouldn't change it for the world! When she kicks, all is forgiven.
