Pregnancy can challenge even the most confident fashionistas. As our bellies grow, we’re forced to trade in a closet filled with gorgeous — but shrinking! — clothes for a temporary wardrobe for our new, evolving shape. There’s no doubt that investing in beautiful pieces can add to your pregnancy glow, but a nine-month shelf life for a pricey dress can be a hard pill to swallow, even for the chicest trendsetters we know.

That’s why SaSadDi Odunsi, owner of Bump Brooklyn, stocks her shelves with fabulous contemporary fashion lines to complement her stable of maternity and nursing labels. “Buying contemporary styles that work during pregnancy helps us to feel connected to our pre-pregnancy selves while we are embracing all the newness of our growing bodies and the future of motherhood ahead,” she says.

I recently stopped into Odunsi’s Park Slope shop for some pointers on how to dress my own growing bump, and discovered some incredible labels that will live in my closet well past the expiration date of my pregnancy.
