On finding yourself and your tribe, with a newborn in tow.
Name: Rana Batyske
Neighborhood: Park Slope
Baby: Myles Xavier, 2 months
Describe your personal style: Experimental; Defiant; Eclectic
Describe your parenting style: Benevolent. I am imparting all that I have to provide the best life for Myles.
“I heard someone once say, there are two types of people in the world...those with children, and those without. There is something about someone else knowing or understanding your story. It is a bit difficult finding your tribe, so to speak, but I think it's key to finding yourself again. A piece of your old life.
Life is very fast in NYC and in my 2 months of motherhood, I have been so humbled by this new role. Life with a newborn is constant. My recovery was not as swift as I hoped it would be. I lived on my sofa for a month and a half and I'm just now getting out of the house like I used to. Yes, this journey is all about Myles, but I don't want to neglect myself either. I'm just getting a nice rhythm to my life again. I'm in awe of the women that I've met and I look forward to mommy happy hour! And new friendships, of course.”
Rana on her Style:
“After almost a year of trying to dress this body that I feel does not belong to me, I was so excited to wear this. I think I get a kick out of trying to style my body around all of its new changes."
