One for Two

First it’s the positive pregnancy test, then the heartbeat, the belly pop and of course those first kicks. Each one of these milestones confirms the fact that you’re one step closer to becoming a mama, and heightens your awareness of what you’re putting in and on your body. But once that baby arrives, don’t just go running back to those old products filled with endless ingredients -- come on, you know better now. Not only should you keep up the switch for yourself but also for that new baby that’s going to be laying her gorgeous body on top of your skin. Do yourself a favor, and treat your own skin like you would your baby's: with care.

FEATURED VIDEO

Granted in those first few days, or even weeks, you really only need to wash your baby with water, but before you know it, baby products will literally be pushing your own products out of your cabinets. And let them. But think outside of the box. There are so many great brands out there now that are offering safe, natural and organic mama products that you’ll want to share with your baby. And baby products you'll want to claim as your own.

Here are the five products we're loving right now that are so beautiful -- inside and out -- you may "accidentally" leave them out on your bathroom counters for guests to see.

1. Earth tu Face

We recently discovered this brand at the Hatch Collection pop-up shop. With organic virgin coconut oil and unrefined cocoa butter as its main ingredients, this body butter is sure to protect baby’s skin and soften yours.

2. S.W. Basics of Brooklyn Body Oil

If you don’t know by now, I’m an S.W. Basics groupie. Their products are so simple and addicting. And this body oil is no exception -- I feel comfortable enough using daily on my little guy and myself.

3. Zoe Organics Everything Balm

We think the name says it all. Sure you can use it on your face before you head out into the cold but you can also throw it into your baby’s first aid kit! The combination of shea butter, coconut and jojoba oils will help with scrapes, burns, rashes, insect bites and serve as a barrier from wind and moisture.

4. Weleda Calendula Weather Protection Cream

Everyone I know seems to be devoted to one Weleda product or another. This weather protection cream in particular is one of them. Completely water-free and long-lasting, it’s ideal for soothing the chapped, dry skin babies often get from drooling! Perfect for protecting mama's hands from getting chapped out in the cold too!

5. Om Aroma & Co. Sweet Baby Organic Oil

If you’re still not convinced oils won’t leave you feeling as slick as a frying pan, we encourage you to use your baby as a tester! Made with only five ingredients, this oil is perfect for infant massages and mama’s dry or sensitive skin.

There has been a growing buzz lately about what some are calling "lazy parenting." It's being touted as the antidote to helicopter parenting, and, while its name may suggest otherwise, it's actually anything but lazy.

So what's the deal with lazy parenting? How do I do it and what will it do for my kids?

When I first heard of lazy parenting, I thought someone had been spying on my house on Fridays from 5:30pm until bedtime.
