The idea of remote work is super appealing for many parents. Working from home means no commute, and more time with the kids and can even give some parents the ability to earn a paycheck without losing a large chunk of it to childcare. If you've been looking to try out a legit work from home opportunity, we've got good news for you, mama.

Amazon is looking to hire 3,000 part-time, seasonal, remote customer service associates this spring.

If you've got customer service experience, a high school diploma, and live in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, or Wyoming you can apply to work as a remote customer service associate.

According to Amazon, the customer service associates are paid $15.00 and usually get about 20-29 hours a week (but can work as many as 60 hours). These positions will involve a variety of shifts, so if you've got a flexible schedule it could be a good fit.

The posting is for seasonal employees, but Amazon has previously noted that seasonal employees can end up having opportunities to apply for regular roles in the future, so this might be a good way to get your foot in the door.


Speaking of doors, you might want one for your work space if you're going to work when the kids are home.

Amazon requires remote employees to "provide a home work area that is free of any and all distractions" in order to be able to give their undivided attention to the work, and employees must agree to "not provide child or adult care during hours of scheduled work."

That doesn't mean that this can't work for mothers, though. If you have a co-parent who can watch the kids while you work weekends, afternoons or early mornings, or your kids have a grandmother who just loves to babysit, this could be the remote gig for you.
