Can you imagine getting flowers from B?
But unlike most new moms, Perry received a gift from the Queen B. On September 2, Perry posted a photo to her Instagram Story of a gorgeous bouquet of all-white flowers with a note that read, "Congratulations on the new addition to your family -Beyoncé," according to ELLE.
Alongside the photo, Perry wrote, "ily @beyonce."
Bey has three children with husband JAY-Z: 8-year-old Blue Ivy and 3-year-old twins Rumi and Sir—so it's no surprise that she would want to reach out to new mom Perry to congratulate her.
Perry and Bloom, who are UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, announced Daisy Dove's birth in a statement and photo shared with the organization. They used it as a call for people to support UNICEF's efforts to help communities that don't have access to basic necessities and adequate health care:
"We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter. But we know we're the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.⠀
As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare. In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB's arrival. By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your ♥️ can bloom with generosity."⠀
Perry—who announced her pregnancy in March, when many states went into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, was open about the tough parts of being pregnant during a pandemic, according to TODAY.
She wrote on Twitter in mid-May, "sometimes i don't know what's worse trying to avoid the virus or the waves of depression that come with this new norm."
Then, in an interview with Apple Music just a few days before Daisy Dove came into the world, Perry said that it took her a while to feel ready to become a mom. Eventually, though, she said she got there, and that her pregnancy with Bloom "was no mistake."
"It was no accident and we were ready," she said. "The only thing I wasn't necessarily prepared for is COVID and American revolution at the same time."
Now, Perry will be one of many new moms raising a baby in the midst of a pandemic and historic civil unrest. But she'll have friends and fellow moms like Queen B to support her. And that's exactly what new mamas need—a strong village.
