Chrissy Teigen is a social media force to be reckoned with. She's like the queen of Twitter at this point, thanks to her quick wit and perfect timing, and her Instagram is just as hilarious.

So when an internet commenter mom-shamed Teigen in the comments section of her husband's Instagram, Chrissy showed up quickly to shut the shaming down with humor.

It all started when John Legend posted a sweet pic of Chrissy and the kids hanging out with Chrissy's mom, Vilailuck Teigen, in a trailer on the set of The Voice. In the snapshot 2-year-old Luna is cuddling with her grandmother and Chrissy is seen giving baby Miles a bottle.

Obviously, John took the picture and posted it on his account, but an Instagram user replied to the photo with a question that was meant for his wife and touched a nerve.

The commenter (a Romanian journalist, according to her IG bio) asked, "You no longer breastfeed?"

At that point Chrissy slid into John's comment section to respond, writing "[J]ohn never breastfed Miles."

😂

It may seem a bit snarky, but we can totally see why Chrissy felt the need to sarcastically comment on the comment.

While she has been very open about breastfeeding, whether or not she's still doing it really isn't anyone's business. It could be formula in that bottle, or it could be pumped breastmilk. But the contents of the bottle are no one's business but hers.

We need to stop asking mothers about infant feeding choices

Celebrities are used to getting intrusive questions about a lot of personal issues, but Chrissy's hilarious comment illustrates a problem all moms deal with.

Expecting and new moms are often asked if they are breastfeeding or plan to. The question may be well-meaning, but a lot of moms find it invasive or anxiety-inducing for those whose infant feeding experience isn't going as they expected.

Even if the question is asked without ill-intent, it puts parents in a position where, if the answer is anything but yes, they have to defend themselves. A 2016 study published in the journal Maternal & Child Nutrition Maternal & Child Nutrition found that the majority of mothers who don't breastfeed feel mom-guilt over it, and more than 75% feel the need to defend their reasoning.

By sending the message that this question isn't welcome, Chrissy Teigen is sending the message that asking mothers to defend their infant feeding choices is not okay. Questions that invite guilt or shame are not okay.

Instead of asking a mother if she's breastfeeding, maybe we should just ask her how she's doing. That way, if she wants to talk about breastfeeding, she can, but just like infant feeding itself, that decision should be hers.

News

Disney+, the new streaming platform from Disney, is all set to launch tomorrow—which means we are only a few hours away from enjoying a lineup of original programming and existing options from Marvel, Pixar and more.

As Forbes reports, subscribers in the United States, Canada and the Netherlands can start streaming content at 3 am, PST.

If you're on the east coast that's a little late (unless you're already up in the middle of the night feeding a baby) but if you're on the west coast that means you could be streaming before breakfast.

The anticipation for this moment has been building for two years, and last month Disney finally rolled out a list of the TV shows and movies we can expect to find on the platform in one epic Twitter thread.

FEATURED VIDEO

The list was released in chronological order, so the first program on the lineup is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which originally released in 1937. "It. Is. Time. From Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to The Mandalorian, check out basically everything coming to #DisneyPlus in the U.S. on November 12," a tweet from Disney+'s account reads.

The lineup also includes classics like Pinocchio, Bambi and Fantasia. While switcheroo films like The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday were revived during many of our childhoods, the platform will offer up the original versions of both movies. And Disney princess tales like Cinderella, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast appear in the lineup as well.

Are you more TV show fan than movie buff? If so, you can binge shows like Boy Meets World and Smart Guy (you know you loved these during your childhood!). And not to worry: There's plenty of original programming to fall in love with as well—most notably, fresh takes on Lizzie McGuire and High School Musical.

Naturally, Twitter users are having a field day with this thread. One user added that we are "old enough to remember when Disney's home video strategy was to threaten consumers that their movies would be put away in a vault and if you didn't buy them RIGHT NOW you might never get to see them again."

Are you as excited about this as we are? We LOVE the thought of introducing our little ones to our nostalgic favorites while discovering some new amazing programming in the process!

News

She's beautiful, successful and hilarious, and Ali Wong is also a regular mom. If you follow her on Instagram you'll know she doesn't subscribe to the idea of curating the grid with polished pictures. Instead, Ali serves up as much realness on the 'gram as she does in her standup—and we love her for it.

We love that she doesn't crop out the clutter and doesn't pretend that motherhood can't be super fun and super hard at the same time.

Here are nine times Ali Wong's Instagram perfectly captured the #momlife experience.

1. Work is my escape

When she admited the weekend can be super hard and that she was "grateful the weekend was over" and that work is her escape. It is okay if you feel like being home with your kids is sometimes harder work than actually being at work. It probably is.

One survey found moms log so many hours on childcare and housework that motherhood is like 2.5 jobs and an academic study found that even when moms who do paid work during the week get "time off" on the weekend they're still working, it's just unpaid.

Ali gets it.

2. Being grateful for the village

Our society can be really weird when it comes to motherhood. Throughout human history, parents have had help from community, but now the metaphorical village is hard to come by. That's why having a kid start pre-school, day care or elementary can feel like such a relief. When Ali Wong says she's ready to lie down and have "the teachers come off the bench" we totally get it. We're grateful for our kids' teachers, too. It's nice to have some responsible adults backing you up.

Even MVPs need teammates!

3. When you don't want a weekend wth your kids to end

Sometimes a weekend with the kids feels like work and sometimes it feels like paradise. Ali knows that both can be true. "Can we extend this weekend?" she captioned a photo in which she's captured enjoying a beach day with her daughter.

Motherhood is complicated. Sometimes we yearn to go back to work and sometimes we yearn to have more time off with the family. It's normal to want days like this one to never end (but unfortunately they do).

4. All I want for Christmas is sleep

If this photo of Ali Wong sleeping beneath her sleeping baby wasn't already super relatable, the caption is. "All I want for Christmas is sleep," she noted. Now we're humming Mariah Carey's iconic tune and nodding in agreement.

And Ali's hashtag, #blessedbutdone" is also super on point. You can love your kids dearly without wanting more.

5. When you take the pregnancy test and you’re not pregnant

Sometimes a positive pregnancy test requires a happy dance. And sometimes when you're a mama who is feeling #blessedbutdone like Ali, a negative test prompts a dance celebration. "When you take the pregnancy test and you're not pregnant," she captioned a video in which she busts a move for her daughter, who (does not appreciate mama's moves and says "stop dancing."

"I can't stop dancing," Ali tells her.

Whether you've danced for one pink line or two, you can probably relate.

6. Flying as a parent is not easy

Flying with kids is tricky business, as Ali noted in the sarcastic caption of this photo. "Flying with kids is extremely easy and refreshing. Especially when they both just want to sit with Mommy, while Daddy is free to eat BBQ sliders and watch Veep."

We hope Mommy got to get some binge-watching time at some point during the flight, too.

7. When you have a second child

Introducing a newborn to an older sibling can be absolutely adorable, but little hands don't always know how to be gentle, as this picture shows. "When the first child met the second child and tried to destroy her head while I was breastfeeding and I realized the biggest hazard to my newborn baby was my toddler," Ali captioned this one. 😂

It's not exactly a Pinterest-worthy sibling photoshoot, but it's accurate.

8. When you forget the double stroller

Strollers are amazing, and forgetting one can ruin a shopping trip. That's why we totally understand why Ali hijacked a shopping cart from its store of origin to tour her kids around a strip mall for two hours.

Who hasn't taken a cart from the department store and used it in the mall? Kids are heavy! We promise we'll return the cart when we're done!

9. Giving my friend a tutorial on how to pump hands free.

Pumping breast milk is not exactly glamorous, but that didn't stop Ali from posting this double pump pic to Instagram, "Giving my firmed a tutorial on how to pump hands free," she wrote.

Everybody needs a friend like this because pumping is hard! We could all use a coach (especially one as hilarious as Ali Wong)

News

It's hard to believe, but it's been a whole year since Gabrielle Union announced the birth of her baby girl. Since then, we've all had the pleasure of watching adorable baby Kaavia James grow, as well as seeing Union and husband Dwyane Wade raise her. This year hasn't always been easy for Union, however, as she shared in a beautifully honest post on her daughter's birthday.

"Scared to hold you," Union wrote in her post on Thursday afternoon. "Scared to burp you. Scared to reveal I have no clue what I'm doing. Scared to go to work. Scared to stay home. Scared when you sleep. Scared when you wake up. Scared I'm not living up to some impossible standard of motherhood. Scared I'd lose myself. Scared I'd be exposed as a failure, as less than, not as good as, not as comfortable as, not as... anything."

FEATURED VIDEO

Yes, even gorgeous, successful Gabrielle Union experiences the same doubts about motherhood as so many of us. Because it really is hard.

"Now I understand why sometimes you'll see moms at the airport or in Target just in tears," she told People earlier this year. "You try to do what you can in the hours that you can. I may not be hitting it out of the park at work, at home, with her or with my husband, but that's okay."

For this birthday post Union shared a slideshow video of Kaavia's first year, set to Bill Withers' "Lovely Day." She had also posted the lyrics of that song with her birth announcement post last year. We've seen most of those images before, but they're somehow more moving in montage form.

Union went on to write about how her daughter helped her gain confidence in herself, too.

"But there you were, everyday, looking up at me, like 'gurl, you got this!' " Union wrote. "When I let go of my fears of judgment and just did my best and recognized that my best would and could change from day to day and life would magically go on... Man, I finally allowed myself to just enjoy you @kaaviajames and relax into the peace of imperfection."

We certainly couldn't have described that first year of parenting better ourselves.
