Not that any mamas out there need to be convinced that Target is the best place on earth, but this news ought to sweeten the reputation of everyone’s favorite store. Starting this fall, the retailer is planning to roll out curbside Starbucks as an option for customers who are picking up their orders.

At select locations, customers will have the option to add a Starbucks order to their curbside experience—without ever having to leave the car! Target is also planning to give curbside returns a trial run, too. These changes were inspired by the fact that 60% more customers have been using the contact-less shopping option throughout the pandemic.

And because the full Target immersion experience includes sipping your coffee while perusing the seasonal dollar bins (or so I imagine), missing out on in-store shopping will no longer mean missing out on your favorite ice latte.

To use the new Starbucks feature, shoppers who are planning to pick up their items can place an order in the Target app and indicate when they’re “on their way” so employees can get their coffee started and ready to deliver to the customer’s car.

And to compete with apps like Instacart, the store will also test out a “backup item” option with order pickups, so shoppers can have the option of choosing a secondary replacement item if theirs is out of stock.

“Our guests continue to tell us they love the ease and convenience of Drive Up, and have been asking us to add even more of the Target experience to the service. Adding Starbucks ordering and easy returns, while expanding our backup item options, will give guests even more of what they love about shopping at Target, quickly and easily,” says Mark Schindele, Target’s chief stores officer in a press release. “Ongoing investments in our same-day services have built trust and relevance with our guests, while meeting their needs — no matter how they choose to shop.”

As if we needed yet another reason to love our favorite store—we’ll cheers with our pumpkin spice latte to that this fall, that’s for sure.
