We know you might have spring florals and summer stripes on your mind. But soon enough, you’ll want those yellowing leaves, woodland creatures and layering basics for baby. Especially if you’ve got a little one due in a few months. We recently hit Playtime New York and met the designers and founders of some of our favorite baby brands for a sneak peek at their fall 2016 collections. So we’re bringing you the scoop on the color palettes, fabrics and shapes that will permeate baby’s universe later this year.

Whether you are on the hunt for the perfect nursery accent piece or want to know what your wee one will be sporting in the fall, here are 8 baby things to get excited about for this coming fall.

1. Goodnight Light

The Piña Colada lamp doesn’t just bring a warm glowing light to the nursery. Boasting all the imperfections of the pineapple, it also brings an element of kitsch that is ultimately unexpected in the world of baby. But you don’t need to be a fan of pop culture to get on board with Goodnight Light’s aesthetics. Designed by Eva Newton, the lamp (and many of the brand’s other designs) will fit in any décor, from minimalist to retro. All in all, the brand’s philosophy is to create designs that appeal to both children’s imagination and grownups’ tastes. Goodnight Light will be launching for the first time in the US this May and will introduce a few new designs, so mark your calendar and figure out which lamp you like best.

2. Rylee & Cru

This bear sweatshirt and sweatpants ensemble has all the usual fall fashion suspects a baby (or a mama) can dream of. It comes in a warm rust color with an all-over bear print and is made with French terry, a soft cotton fabric that is sure to keep baby warm during the colder months. Both pieces are garment dyed, which gives them a soft, vintage look and feel. Rylee & Cru’s founder, Kelli Murray, merges art and imagination to create clothes that are both artistic and easy to wear, and all of her pieces are made in California. Check out the brand‘s current collection and don’t forget to snag a bear fall outfit, once it launches later this year.

3. Finn+Emma

Get baby ready for the best playdate ever with Finn + Emma‘s Woodland Play Gym. With both sustainability and style in mind, the brand has created a space for baby to play happily (and safely) ever after. The activity mat has a 100% birch wood frame finished with non-toxic stains and lacquers; and the wooden toys are crafted of natural untreated Indian hardwood, which is buffed with vegetable seed wax. The knit dolls are made of organic cotton and are hand-knit by artisans in Peru. We love the hipster twist that the brand gives to the woodland creatures. Plus, all the toys are detachable and can be used on strollers and high chairs. Do you need more convincing? The Woodland Play Gym is available now!

4. Bacabuche

The kimono-style gown is one of Bacabuche’s top sellers, and rightly so. It is the perfect, safest way to keep baby toasty at night, and the kimono-style opening is adjustable and makes nighttime diaper changes a breeze. Next fall, the gown will come in this gorgeous plum color and will be made with bamboo fleece, making it even softer and more comfortable for baby. The brand uses a mix of natural and organic textiles to provides baby with a wardrobe that is modern, playful and simple all at once. If you’re thinking about getting a welcome-home gift for your little one, check with Bacabuche to know when the plum kimono-gown will hit the shelves.

The Arizona teepee is the perfect home away from home: it gives our wee ones a little space just for themselves – where they can hide, rest, read or pretend play with their friends. The teepee comes in many different colors and patterns and can be stored in the bag that it comes in. Although, we think it is stylish enough to leave out at all time, in any room of the house. Nobodinoz works hand in hand with local manufacturers and artisans in France and Spain to combine style and quality with a fair-trade sensibility. The brand is also in compliance with European safety standards. Go on Nobodinoz’s website to pick the teepee that will fit your little one’s universe, or wait for US retailers to carry their line.

7. Noch Miniimage 1675 Motherly

Noch Mini is stepping into new (winter) territory: in the fall of 2016, the brand will launch its first-ever line of bunting suits. Available in blue and pink, the snowsuit is made of goose down and organic cotton on the inside, and of recycled waterproof polyester coating on the outside – the perfect combination to keep baby toasty and dry on a cold, rainy day. We also love the minimalist, yet sophisticated all-over triangle print and can’t wait to see all the babies sport that pointy hood. Noch Mini also uses certified organic materials and low-impact dyes to give baby the softest – and safest – outfits possible. Keep an eye out for the brand’s AW16 launch.
