It’s official. It’s been one whole month since little Stormi Webster entered the world (although not quite a month since the world learned she existed). To celebrate Stormi’s first month of life, proud mama Kylie Jenner did what comes naturally to the social media star and posted a couple selfies.

The world will just have to wait a little bit longer for a headshot of the baby whose tiny hand is the subject of the most liked Instagram post ever.

We can expect that when her mama does decide to show Stormi’s face to the world, social media records will be broken once more, but what can Kylie expect now that her baby is 1 month old?

Here’s what life is like with a baby Stormi’s age.

Getting the hang of parenthood

For many new moms and dads, the first month of their baby’s life passes by in a wonderful (and okay, sometimes not so wonderful) whirlwind of night feedings, nursing sessions, diapers blowouts and loads of laundry (so much little laundry).

Jenner has no doubt had some help with the laundry side of things, but even with assistance around the house, the chaos of caring for a newborn baby can make the first month feel like a total blur.

By the time a baby reaches 1 month old, many parents feel like they’re finally taking a breath and relaxing, because at 30 days in, new parents have often had a lot of practice at some of the things that seemed perplexing in the early days (collapsing a stroller is not always intuitive) and are a little more confident and comfortable in their new role of “parent.”

Watching your baby watch the world

As mom and dad start to get the hang of taking care of the baby, the 1-month-old is busy taking in the world.

At 1 month old, a baby’s hearing is fully developed, they can recognize some sounds, and they can see about 8-12 inches in front of their face. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, 1-month-olds are into black-and-white and high contrast objects, but their favorite thing to look at is the human face.

(Jenner’s social media suggests that when it comes to her own 1-month-old, the feeling is mutual.)

Now that Stormi is discovering the world around her, Jenner and her boyfriend, Travis Scott, can help her develop by making plenty of eye contact and slowly moving toys and other objects for her to follow with her eyes.

Staying in sync

With so much to discover, it’s easy for a 1-month-old to get overstimulated (especially in the afternoon and at night). Jenner and Scott may want to practice being in sync with Stormi’s cues so that they can easily tell when she’s had enough of something. For example, if a parent were slowly moving a toy for the baby to track and the baby got fussy, that’s a cue that they’re done with that activity.

Science suggests that when parents are in sync with, or sensitive to, a baby’s cues, the attachment between parent and child is more secure.

This takes some time and practice, as no one can be a baby mind reader, so when baby is 1-month-old parents are really just laying the groundwork and getting to know baby so that as the child grows, they’ll be better able to interpret their needs.

Feeding, feeding and feeding some more

Whether you’re breastfeeding or formula feeding, when a baby is Stormi’s age, you’re pretty much feeding them around the clock.

Breastfed babies typically nurse at least 8-12 times a day, and according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, a one-month-old on formula will take about four ounces per feeding, once every four hours.

Needless to say, feeding your child at that age is a full-time job, and you’re on the night shift (unless you’re Kylie Jenner—People reports she’s hired nannies to help).

For most parents, having a baby Stormi’s age means you may not be getting a lot of sleep, but it also means lots of opportunities for cuddles that build a bond that will outlast those sleepless nights.
