Congratulations are in order for
Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom. The couple recently welcomed a baby girl, they announced late Wednesday.

They named their daughter Daisy Dove Bloom. The name may sound familiar to fans of Perry’s recent single “Daisies”.

Perry and Bloom shared the big news through a statement with UNICEF (they’re Goodwill Ambassadors for the organization).

“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the new parents began their statement.

“But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.”

Daisy Dove joins her older brother, 9-year-old Flynn, Orlando’s son from a previous marriage to Miranda Kerr.

“Flynn couldn’t be more excited to be getting a little sister—he’s already got two brothers from Miranda,” Bloom recently told
Hello Magazine. “So although the circumstances are definitely unusual, this is a wonderful time for us.”

Flynn splits his time between his parents’ homes and was with Perry and Bloom for part of this pregnancy, at the start of the lockdown.

This is Perry’s first child, and as she previously told the Kylie and Jackie O radio show that she hopes her daughter’s personality will be as high energy as her parents.

“The DNA between both of us is very high energy,” the singer said.”She will be what she is and I am sure that she’s just here to teach us a lesson.”

While awaiting her daughter’s arrival Perry kept busy, releasing the single Smile. She’s also been busy preparing for her daughter’s
arrival in the middle of a pandemic, which has been fun but challenging.

Perry revealed in an interview with Howard Stern back in July that her and partner Bloom pushed back their wedding date in the wake of the pandemic to focus on the birth of their daughter.

“Obviously, that will happen in the future, but for now we just want to deliver a healthy child. And that’s what’s coming up right now!”

This is the second time the couple has pushed back their wedding date, originally set to tie the knot last winter in Japan.

But the couple is not the least bit slighted as they realize they have a lot of things to celebrate, the main one being their new bundle of joy.

Congratulations to Katy and Orlando!

In celebration of their daughter, Perry and Bloom set up a UNICEF donation page on her behalf.
