Soft intimates, button-down shirt dresses, and nipple cream. Lots and lots of nipple cream.
You'll figure out what works best for you and baby and get in the swing of this whole nursing thing soon enough. Until then, here are a few of our absolute favorite nursing staples to get you started.
A soft-cup bra is the perfect amount of support for your tender, swollen breasts and it easily pulls to the side to nurse without the fuss of snaps or hooks. This nursing wrap provides all-around coverage for those early weeks when you're figuring it all out, and also doubles as a convenient car seat cover (well, that's neat).
We also love these reusable cotton nursing pads. They're oh so comfortable and absorb more than the disposable kind, and we've found they're easy to throw in with all that newborn laundry you're doing these days.
4. Organic nipple balm by Honest Co. 5. Therapearl 3-in-1 Breast Therapy by Lansinoh 6. Mother's Milk Tea by Traditional Medicinals
Repeat after us: Nipple balm is my best friend. We've found this works wonders to prevent chapped and sore nipples. Apply liberally and often.
We also love these hot and cold combo therapy packs to soothe sore breasts and prevent clogged ducts and mastitis. And if you're worried about your supply, this mother's milk tea is a great natural remedy to boost supply.
7. The shirtdress by Hatch 8. 'Neo' wraparound cardigan at Nordstrom 9. Flannel latitude shirtdress by Madewell
There's nothing like a loose-fitting, flattering, easily accessible outfit to help a new mama nurse in style. Our favorite look right now? The button-down shirtdress and the wraparound cardigan.
