We know how hectic life as a busy mama can be. We spend so much of our days (and nights!) serving those we love the most. Sometimes we're so busy helping our families thrive, we forget to take time for ourselves.

That's why we're starting the Motherly Book Club—to help you find yourself in stories, conversation, and in friendship.

Each month, we're going to highlight books written by mothers about topics that impact us all, like motherhood, identity, and friendship. We're going to talk with the authors about their experiences as a parent and writer. We'll discuss each novel's themes and characters and how they represent the motherhood experience.

Join us in reading the Motherly Book Club's first selection: That Summer by Jennifer Weiner.

In her latest book, Weiner explores themes of identity, motherhood, and female friendship. Here's the novel's description:

Daisy Shoemaker can't sleep. With a thriving cooking business, full schedule of volunteer work, and a beautiful home in the Philadelphia suburbs, she should be content. But her teenage daughter can be a handful, her husband can be distant, her work can feel trivial, and she has lots of acquaintances, but no real friends. Still, Daisy knows she's got it good. So why is she up all night?

While Daisy tries to identify the root of her dissatisfaction, she's also receiving misdirected emails meant for a woman named Diana Starling, whose email address is just one punctuation mark away from her own. While Daisy's driving carpools, Diana is chairing meetings. While Daisy's making dinner, Diana's making plans to reorganize corporations. Diana's glamorous, sophisticated, single-lady life is miles away from Daisy's simpler existence. When an apology leads to an invitation, the two women meet and become friends. But, as they get closer, we learn that their connection was not completely accidental. Who IS this other woman, and what does she want with Daisy?

There's more—Jennifer Weiner will join us for a live conversation on Facebook about the book!

Save the date: Weiner will join us on our Motherly Facebook page on June 29th at 7 p.m. EST to discuss her latest novel, writing process and life as a mom. We hope you'll join, too!
