The first year of fatherhood goes by so fast, and we hope that all the dads who are celebrating their first Father’s Day today can take some time to slow down and reflect on their new role as Dad.

These guys deserve congratulations, and we know they’re working hard. Today’s dads spend 3 times as much time with their kids than previous generations , and the pandemic has brought them even closer to their children.

Celebrities are no exception and we’re so happy for the famous men who are celebrating their very first Father’s Day this year.

Here are the new celeb dads getting Father’s Day cards for the first time in 2020:

Joshua Jackson

Joshua Jackson recently welcomed a baby with his wife, Jodie Turner-Smith.

“Thank you for making me a father. For trusting me enough to embark on this journey together. I am humbled more and more every day by that.” Jackson wrote to Turner-Smith in an Instagram post on Mother’s Day.

He says having other parents to turn to has helped him in the earliest days of fatherhood.

While promoting Little Fires Everywhere he was asked about his relationships with costars Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon.

“I was going through a pretty significant change during the show: I found out my wife was pregnant,” Jackson told the Hollywood Reporter. “So having a collection of supermoms around me helped with everything from finding doctors to baby clothes to ‘what to expect’ advice.”

Jay Ellis

Insecure star Jay Ellis is celebrating his first Father’s Day this year with daughter Nora Grace Ellis (who was born in November) and his wife, Nina Senicar.

“When you’re pushed to the limits, whether it’s personally…with a baby, and you’re up all night, or whether it’s with work, you start to realize your limits aren’t what you thought they were,” the actor told Essence.

“You get tired and you break down. You need a nap, you might cry, want to be held, whatever it is. But mentally and physically, you’re probably stronger than what you actually thought you were,” he adds. “That’s one of the biggest things that I took away from it: I can do this. This is going to hurt. My eyes are going to burn because I’m tired, but I can actually do it, and nothing has to suffer. I didn’t want to not be there for my baby. I wanted as much chest-to-chest time as I could get. I wanted all the bottles. I wanted all the diapers.”

Usain Bolt

Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt and his partner Kasi Bennett welcomed their first child, a daughter, in May.

“I’m excited, but I’m nervous,” Bolt said back before the baby was born.

The 33-year-old new dad has also told reporters he’d like to add to the family eventually and thinks 3 children would be a good fit.

Baby Bolt may have siblings to share future Father’s Days with!

Rupert Grint

Former Harry Potter star Rupert Grint plays an uncle on Apple TV’s series Servant, but he became a dad in real life earlier this year.

Grint and his partner, actor Georgia Groome, welcomed a baby girl back in May and Grint’s Harry costar Danielle Radcliffe noted in interviews how happy he was for Grint, but how strange it was to think of his friends as being old enough to have families.

For Grint it wasn’t weird at all. In 2018 he told The Guardian , “I’d like to settle down and have kids soon.”

Now the 31-year-old has done both.

Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper became a dad in April and described the experience as “a dream come true”.

“When I was 12 years old and knew I was gay and thought about my life, it always upset me because I thought, ‘I will never be able to have a kid,'” he told People .

“It feels like my life has actually begun…And I sort of wonder, what was I waiting for? This is a new level of love. It’s unlike anything I’ve experienced, and yet it’s also very familiar and incredibly special and intimate. It’s really extraordinary.”

Wyatt Morgan Cooper is one lucky little baby.

Benji Madden

Back in January Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden became a father, welcomcing daughter Raddix with his wife, Cameron Diaz.

“We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”

The couple has chosen not to post any pictures of their daughter on social media as they “feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy.”

Johnny Galecki

Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki became a father in late 2019 welcoming a child with his partner, Alaina Marie Meyer.

Back in January Galecki explained his thoughts new fatherhood through a simple Instagram caption , calling it “a feeling beyond any words”.

Kane Brown

Country singer Kane Brown is celebrating his first Father’s Day this year. Brown and his wife Katelyn Jae welcomed baby girl Kingsley Rose Brown in October.

“I think the best thing about being a father is just watching my daughter grow and get a personality,” Brown is quoted by Country Now.

He continued: “Right now it’s just watching her personality come in.”

Quentin Tarantino

Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and his wife Daniella Pick welcomed a son named Leo back in February.

Years earlier, in 2015, Tarantino opened up to Entertainment Weekly about his plans for fatherhood and films.

“There was a time about 13 years ago that I had a baby fever, that I really thought about having kids,” said Tarantino. “Usually, it’s a situation like that where somebody very close to you has a kid, and you kind of experience vicariously though them the joy of a child, and the joy of the love of a child. And I was thinking about it a lot . And I was getting a lot of encouragement in thinking about it, in so far as people telling me what I great father I would be. And that was very moving.”

Steve Kazee

When Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee welcomed their son Callum in March Kazee became a dad for the first time. Dewan had an advantage when it comes to babies, as she shares 7-year-old daughter Everly with her ex-husband, Channing Tatum.

But Kazee has quickly adapted to fatherhood, according to Dewan, who noted on Instagram: “Seeing you become a father is one of the greatest things I’ve ever witnessed. The depth of emotion you feel, the love you share, the insane ability you have to do it ALL for all of us..we are so lucky.”
