Mila Kunis joked about wanting to “get away” from her kids during the pandemic—and we so get it

Mila Kunis says that she jumped at the opportunity to work on a Super Bowl commercial to get out of the house and “escape” from her kids for a few days.

How’s that for hilariously honest?

The actor, who shares daughter Wyatt, 6, and son Dimitri, 4, with husband Ashton Kutcher, laughed about the experience during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Kutcher explained that Cheeto’s reached out to the celebrity couple with an offer to star in their Super Bowl commercial.

The Black Swan actor said that after quarantining for months, she jumped at the chance to get out of the house.

“It was the peak of the pandemic,” she said. “It made no sense logically. It may have been the worst time to do it. We were so quarantined. I was dying to get out of the house.”

“I was literally like, ‘I don’t care. I need to get out of this house!’ I looked at it as a two-day vacation. I was like, ‘We’re getting out. We’re going to shoot this thing, and we’re going to get away from our children,'” she laughed.

The two-day shoot wasn’t as worry-free as Kunis originally envisioned.

The actor revealed that she felt vulnerable and exposed while shooting since she was so used to wearing a mask.

“I was then pretty convinced I had COVID,” she added. “I was like, ‘Oh, this is how I get COVID. This is it.’ But, needless to say, knock on wood, that didn’t happen.”

Ultimately, Kunis said she really enjoyed working with her husband and their time away from home.

“And I got two days off from my kids. I’m a horrible mom,” she laughed.

Look, we get it. Many of us have spent most of the past year home, trying to balance work and raising our children with little to no outside help.

We love our kids—but even the most devoted parents need a break every now and then.

“I love my kids very much, we both do,” she later added.

“They’re like dogs,” Kunis joked. “They can sniff you out. They know your smell. They know what room you’re hiding in. You can’t get away from them. You just can’t. They’re just there!”

Every mom who’s ever hid in a closet to snarf down a candy bar or forgot to lock the bathroom door, only to have her kids barge in while she’s going to the bathroom, can relate.

Parenting is hard, even under normal circumstances.

Mila’s not a horrible mom. She’s just an honest one.
