Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger announced that the Hamilton movie is set to premiere on Disney+ on July 3, just in time for your fourth of July celebrations.
The movie version of the musical is dropping more than a year earlier than expected and skipping theaters "in light of the extraordinary challenges facing our world," Iger announced.
If you remember, we first learned about the movie earlier this year when the show's composer and star Lin-Manuel Miranda confirmed it in an interview with Variety. And if you're like us, you've been waiting with baited breath ever since.
"I'm so proud of how beautifully Tommy Kail has brought 'Hamilton' to the screen. He's given everyone who watches this film the best seat in the house," Miranda said in the news release.
Surprise! The original Broadway production of Hamilton, filmed LIVE onstage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, is now coming exclusively to @DisneyPlus this July 3rd. Shout it to the rooftops! #Hamilfilm pic.twitter.com/Uha1RBo6NB

The film highlights the life of Alexander Hamilton during the American Revolution, and will feature original performances by Miranda (who also executive produced the film) as Alexander Hamilton, as well as Daveed Diggs as Thomas Jefferson, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica, Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr and Phillipa Soo as Eliza.
On announcing the news, Miranda tweeted: "Never been so happy/nervous in my life!" No, Miranda we've never been happier to have our quarantine be a bit more bearable. And yes, this gives us another reason to belt out the entire soundtrack for the 921490474 time.
