Name: Meg Davis

Neighborhood: Washington Heights

Occupation: Founder of Explorable Places, an online platform that helps parents and teachers find field trips.

Baby’s Sex: A boy!

How would you describe your pregnant style?

I’m pretty minimalist when it comes to colors, patterns and cuts. I tried to only get a few key pieces and pair them with my favorite pre-pregnancy things like cardigans, jackets and button down shirts. I find stretchy skirts and dresses the most comfortable, so I’m in those a lot. I have probably 7 to 10 outfits that I love and rotate between them.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy?

I’ve been pretty lucky. Most of my normal clothes fit for quite a while. I was anticipating needing to buy a maternity coat and maternity pants, but I think I’m going to make it!

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?

I was really surprised about how tired I felt during the first trimester. I sort of knew that people got tired, but I’d never been that tired before. Since then, I’ve been surprised about how easy it is to go about life as usual while growing a little person.

What are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?

I’m super excited to share our amazing city with our little guy. It’s such an wonderful place, and it will be fun to show it to him. We live very close to the Hudson river, so I’m excited to take him for walks there. Also, there are so many wonderful children’s books that I’m excited to share (and rediscover) with him.

What’s your top 5 registry essentials?

We’re playing this whole thing by ear, so I’m not exactly sure what will be essential for us. I’ve been most excited about things that have multiple purposes and will grow with the baby. My family and friends have been so sweet to give us many of their favorite kids books. I’m also excited about the fairly light weight Uppababy Cruz stroller and our Tula Baby Carrier. When I lived in New Orleans, many parents had baby headphones for parades, and I think they are going to be super helpful for riding the subway. I’m also excited about a set of swaddle blankets, which seem super versatile.
