Nearly two years after the heartbreaking loss of her son, Jack, Chrissy Teigen has announced she’s pregnant again. In the very emotional announcement, she shares photos of her baby bump for the first time, too.
“The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again,” she writes in the caption. “1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way.”
Teigen announced she was undergoing IVF again back in February. The model has always been candid about her IVF journey—both her daughter, Luna, and her son, Miles, were conceived via IVF as well. Tragically, in the fall of 2020, Teigen and her husband, John Legend, endured an unimaginable pregnancy loss when their son, Jack, was stillborn.
“I asked the nurses to show me his hands and feet and I kissed them over and over and over again. I have no idea when I stopped. It could have been 10 minutes or an hour,” she wrote in an essay a few months after his death.

Assisted reproductive technology (ART), including In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), involves procedures in which both eggs and sperm are handled, and may be recommended when other techniques have not been successful. In IVF, an egg is combined with sperm outside the body in vitro—which roughly translates to “in glass.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports about 4 million births per year in the U.S., meaning 1 to 2 percent of all U.S. births annually are via IVF.

“Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still,” she shared in her announcement. “I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!”
Congratulations to the beautiful family on the new addition, and may Jack’s memory always be a blessing.
