Kourtney Kardashian is opening up about the struggles she’s facing as she and her fiancé, Travis Barker, try to expand their family. In the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney talks about how difficult the IVF process has been—specifically how the medication is negatively impacting her quality of life.

In addition to the medication making her feel not like herself, she’s also experienced physical body changes during the IVF process.

“Every single person on social media is always like, ‘Kourtney’s pregnant! Kourtney has gained so much weight!'” she told her mom, Kris, during a scene from the show. “I’m like, it’s so rude to comment on people when you have no idea what they’re actually going through.”

Kourtney also told her mom that the medication made her body “go into menopause” and thrust her into depression, which surprised her mom. Kris tells Kourtney, “I’ve never seen you happier.”

“I have everything in the world to be happy about,” Kourtney responded. “I just feel a little bit off, not like myself, super moody and hormonal. I’m a lunatic half the time.”

While fertility treatments like IVF do not actually cause menopause, they can bring about similar side effects to menopause.

In brief interview with Entertainment Tonight during the premiere of her family’s new Hulu show earlier this month, The Kardashians, Kourtney admits there have been challenges when it comes to trying to have another baby.

“It’s a beautiful thing that we’d love to have happen, but the journey is a bit hard for any woman who went on it,” Kourtney told ET of her fertility struggles.

“And emotional,” Khloe Kardashian added, to which Kourtney nodded.

In the trailer for The Kardashians released in March, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker share the news that they’re trying to have a baby! The trailer shows the couple at the doctor’s office discussing “samples” being put into medical cups.

“Travis and I want to have a baby,” Kourtney says in the trailer. Thankfully, she and Travis take off their mics during the appointment. Travis is later seen kissing his fiancée’s hand as she lies down on a bed in the doctor’s office.

“We’ll take our mics off. You don’t get the audio,” Kourtney jokes.

Kourtney also shared that she was freezing her eggs on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which occurred before she and Travis began dating. She’s already a proud mama to Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7, whom she shares with ex-partner Scott Disick. Travis has two kids of his own with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler—Landon, 18, and Alabama, 16.

Since she and Travis became public, Kourtney Kardashian has had to combat endless pregnancy rumors every time she shares a photo of herself on social media. Recently, she put the baby rumors to rest once and for all (a tip: don’t ever ask a person if they’re pregnant, if they want you to know if they are, you’ll know). And even if she’s trying for a baby, it’s still not OK to hound her about it.

The Kardashian-Barker families have already combined fairly seamlessly, according to various social media posts from “Kravis” (the couple’s nickname) and both Alabama and Landon sharing photos with their future step-siblings.

Kravis became engaged in October 2021, with a big, beautiful proposal on the beach. From the looks of the trailer, we’ll get to see it and the engagement party on The Kardashians.

And despite the fact that Kourtney is enduring physical and mental strife due to the IVF process, she says on the show that she’s committed to having a child with Travis.

“I think that we want it so badly because we want to make something together.”
