When most of us become parents, we look forward to reliving sweet childhood memories with our own kiddos: trips to the zoo, fun at the neighborhood pool and, of course, plenty of visits to the playground.

For Chrissy Teigen, a bit of the fun with the last one was soured when select Instagram followers criticized the way she went down a slide at the park with her daughter.

The fallout started when the 32-year-old social media queen shared a photo of the experience to her Instagram account on Saturday. Teigen, who is expecting her second child with husband John Legend, captioned the post, “Weeeee are very skeptical of slides right now.”

In the Instagram photo, you can see Luna sitting on Teigen’s lap with one leg straight between her mother’s knees and the other bent over her thigh. The drama unfolded when some social media users pointed out Luna’s legs could have been injured.

One commenter wrote that they “actually fractured” their toddler’s femur while heading down a twisty slide. Someone else noted that, as an emergency room nurse, they see “kids break their own legs on slides all the time.” Another commented, “Just a heads up that this can break your little one’s leg!”

While the people may have commented with good intentions, Teigen wasn’t cool with the mommy-shaming overtones. Instead, she clapped back at her slide haters with a hilarious comment of her own.

“Wish you guys would have told me about the leg thing earlier. They broke. Both of them. And everyone else’s in the park broke too just from watching it happen. There are so many broken legs here.”

On a more serious note, she added the picture was “a one second moment in time” when she was lifting Luna onto her lap—and no one was actually injured.

The concern is understandable, though: A 2017 American Academy of Pediatrics study did find that the risk of injury does increase when a child rides a slide while on their parent’s lap, especially when their legs aren’t protected. According to researchers, a kid would often fracture their leg when, while sitting in their mom or dad’s lap, their foot twists and bends backwards after catching on the bottom or edge of the slide.

Still, that’s no reason for people to shame Teigen as a mother. As Teigen said, the photo was a sweet moment between her and Luna that she wanted to share with her fans.

This time, Teigen wasn’t asking for advice on how to be a mom—and she sure shouldn’t have to defend herself for everything she does.
