On Wednesday an armed mob swept the Capitol building as Congress was set to confirm President-elect Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election. Sitting President Donald Trump issued a video statement telling the mob "I know you're in pain. I know you're hurt."

He falsely stated that the election was stolen from him, when all evidence suggests otherwise.

He continued: "This was a fraudulent election, but we can't play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace. So, go home. We love you. You are very special. You've seen what happens. You see the way others are treated that are so bad, so evil. I know how you feel. But go home and go home in peace."

President-elect Joe Biden said the violent protests are "an assault on the most sacred of American undertakings: the doing of the people's business," and that "the scenes of chaos at the Capitol do not reflect a true America, do not represent who we are."

A woman has died and the Capitol is now secure as an overnight curfew is underway in DC. Former President George W. Bush issued a statement condemning what he calls the "insurrection at the capitol."

The photos that captured that chaos will go down in history. These are the images you need to see.
