"I feel like I’m in an alternate universe, because it’s something I’ve never been involved with before"
At this point, unless you’ve been living under an actual rock for the last few weeks, you surely know that Taylor Swift, the most famous pop star on the planet, and Travis Kelce, a football player who is also very famous and plays for a team I cannot name, are at the very least, hanging out, and possibly dating. Swift has been seen at multiple of Kelce’s games in recent weeks, hanging out in private viewing boxes with his family and gaggles of her famous friends. They’ve also been spotted going out after he plays, including to a restaurant that Kelce bought out to celebrate with his friends and family after a win.
Some of the cutest paparazzi shots from games have been of Swift and Kelce’s mom, Donna, hanging out together as they watch Kelce play. And now, during an appearance on the Got It From My Momma podcast, Donna Kelce has finally spoken publicly about what it’s like to hang out with Taylor Swift, probably the most famous person on Earth.
“I feel like I’m in an alternate universe, because it’s something I’ve never been involved with before,” she told host Jennifer Vickery Smith on Friday’s episode.
Donna added that the hype around her son’s rumored relationship with Swift has been a “whirlwind” that has yet to die down.
“I thought it would be over at that point, but it seems to just continue, and every week just seems to trump the week before,” she said. “So it’s really kind of wild, a wild ride.”
Donna did say that she thinks it’s “pretty cool” to see more people, especially young women and girls, taking an interest in football since Swift started attending Kelce’s games. She also spoke about the backlash the NFL has gotten from some fans who think there’s been too much focus on Swift and Kelce’s maybe-maybe-not romance.
“All I can tell you is that the NFL is laughing all the way to the bank,” she said. “You know what I’m saying? Good for them. They’re getting the ramifications of everything. I can tell you this, that they’ve told me personally that the Kelce family has done more good PR for football than they could have paid a $1 million to a PR firm.”
As for Swift’s PR impact? Only time will tell.
