Staying stylish without breaking the bank is hard enough as it is, but when you’re pregnant and assembling a temporary wardrobe, it gets even more challenging. You want affordable maternity clothes that make you feel like yourself as your body shifts and changes. After all, it can be hard to justify spending top dollar on pieces that aren’t going to last beyond a few months.

Personally, I had not a penny to spare during both of my pregnancies. I scoured the sale racks, rocked the hair tie around the button trick to keep wearing my regular jeans as long as possible and scored more than a few things second-hand. (Goddess bless the hand-me-downers!)

There are plenty of affordable maternity clothes out there–if you know where to look. And as mamas who have dressed many-a-bump, trust me when I say we know where to look. These are our favorite places to buy cheap maternity clothes–and we promise you’ll still look like a million bucks.

Where to buy affordable maternity clothes:

Old Navy Maternity

1. Old Navy

It’s no secret that Old Navy is a budget-minded mama’s BFF. And while we love them for their super cheap basics like maternity tanks and brilliant 4-piece essentials sets, where they really shine is in the maternity denim department. The wide range of styles allows you to play it safe (skinny jeans forever, sorry!) or branch out with some super cute overalls without breaking the bank. We’re also big fans of their inclusive range of sizes and options for both petite and long-legged mamas.

Quince Tencel Jersey Maternity Lounge Joggers

2. Quince

If you were under the impression you had to choose between affordable maternity clothes and ethical maternity clothes, think again. Quince, the affordable luxury brand that has no doubt infiltrated your social feeds with their wallet-friendly cashmere sweaters, also offers an entire collection of sustainable maternity basics that check both boxes. Prices start at less than $25 for a maternity and nursing bra you’ll want to live in and even the priciest pieces–a stunning silk gown that’s just perfect for bump photos and crazy soft cashmere joggers– both ring in at under $100 bucks. (I know!)

H&M Maternity

3. H&M

The great thing about H&M is that’ve got you covered from every day essentials to wedding-ready chiffon dresses. Their priced-right pieces can help build a super solid maternity capsule wardrobe but where the brand really shines is with trendy pieces that punch up an otherwise basic look. (Just because you’re pregnant it doesn’t mean you have to be boring!) We’re currently crushing on this ribbed two-piece sweater and skirt set that’s incredibly chic and only $34 bucks.

asos maternity

4. ASOS

Pregnancy used throw a real wrench in the style gears. I mean, have you ever looked at photos of Princess Diana when she was rocking a bump? (If you’re under the age of 25, pause, Google and come back.) A style ICON reduced to matronly sacks with cupcake-esque frills that offered all the flattery of a pillowcase with arms. No thank you. For both price and on-trend styles, ASOS does a bang up job keeping pregnant mamas looking fresh and feeling as stylish as ever. From bump-hugging body con styles to bike shorts and oversize tees (a Diana look we do endorse) their maternity collection is always packed with winners that fit the budget.

Target Maternity

5. Target

Of course it’s stating the obvious as Tar-jay is the house of worship for mamas and mamas-to-be. Clearly they’ve got maternity covered in spades. With Target-exclusive lines from some of the most coveted maternity brands like Hatch and Ingrid & Isabel they make the aspirational totally affordable. They’re also a go-to for maternity-friendly loungewear and the absolute best postpartum pajama set around.

Kohl's Maternity

6. Kohl's

Kohl’s Sonoma Goods for Life brand is reason enough to pop on over for a look. They’ve got all the basics like leggings and tees as well as bump-hugging tank dresses  and jumpsuits. There’s also a great collection of maternity and nursing bras to carry you through postpartum as well. Not to mention, is there a more delightful high than accruing and spending Kohl’s cash? I think not.

Gap Maternity

7. Gap

While Gap’s in-store maternity offerings are often slim to none, their online selection really can’t be beat. Because it’s Gap, they obviously crush it in the denim department, stocking a wide range of cuts as well as constructions (over the belly panels and side elastic insert) most of which have real functioning pockets. Their activewear collection is pretty extensive too, with pieces that will last well into the fourth trimester and beyond. The best part? Sales happen pretty much all the time.
