Babies come with a lot of stuff. And when you’re out and about, a roomy diaper bag is the place for everything you need to be prepared for whatever the day throws your way. Blow outs, meltdowns, snack attacks–anything can happen, right? And even though you’re carting around a ton of stuff, is it too much to ask for a cute, stylish diaper bag that doesn’t scream, well…DIAPER BAG?

It is not. In fact, with all the completely fabulous options out there, the harder part is deciding which diaper bag to choose. Moreover, does it even need to be a formal diaper bag at all? (We also say it does not.)

Ok. Now onto the fun stuff. We’ve rounded up our favorite cute diaper bags that don’t actually look like diaper bags, but instead like the cute, super chic bags you might have carried before the days of finding crushed-up puffs at the bottom of your purse. From diaper bag backpacks to stylish diaper bags that you’d feel great carrying even without baby in tow, there’s something here for every kind of mama.

From stylish diaper bags to diaper bag backpacks, these diaper bags prove you can get the job done—and look darn good while doing it.

Happ Brand Paige Carryall
•

$198

The Paige Carryall from Happ is the handbag-first diaper bag you’ll keep reaching for, with a structured frame and quilted herringbone nylon that gives it the polish of a designer tote and the easy-wipe practicality of baby gear. The top opens Mary Poppins wide, so you can actually see into every corner instead of fishing around a black hole. Hidden back pockets stash your phone and keys, discreet interior bottle pockets keep the secret that it’s a diaper bag at all, and when you’d rather go hands-free, clip on the detachable messenger strap. At $198, it’s the rare splurge that earns its keep long past the bottle years.

Citymouse Classic Crossbody
•

$83.99

Minimalist mamas, rejoice! Citymouse’s functional sling diaper bag packs everything you need into a silhouette that’s so stylish you’ll carry it even when you leave the babe behind. Designed by a mom who wanted something that checked all the boxes, it does all that and then some. Inner pouches sized perfectly for diapers and wipes? Check. A snug spot to hold a sippy cup? Got it. Magnetic close pockets to keep your essentials secure? Of course. Water-resistant and washable material? That too. The only thing you have to debate about is which of the fab strap designs to choose from.

Beis The Diaper Tote
•

$148

Handbag vibes, mom-first design. The Diaper Bag Tote from Béis is so smart and streamlined that even non-moms confess to using it as their work bag. It’s got a slim (but deceivingly roomy) silhouette and made from a wipeable vegan leather that stands up to whatever you can throw at it. Inside you’ll find plenty of organization to keep your baby and work life separate as well as an insulated bottle pocket, changing pad with a zip pocket and a key leash. On your travels, swap to the stroller clips for easy schlepping and when you’re really hitting the road, there’s a handy luggage pass through.

babytotered - Motherly
•

$250

The Caraa Baby Tote offers a stylish solution to lugging everything from diapers and bottles to your laptop and workout clothes. (Seriously, half the rave reviews are from folks who don’t even have babies.) It’s roomy but not obnoxiously oversized, which in our experience makes it far more versatile. Carry it as a tote or crossbody with the removable strap, or hang it from your stroller with the included hooks. Two easy-access exterior drink pockets keep your water bottle handy as well as an additional interior version for milk and snacks.

Calpak Luka Duffel
•

$138

While not exactly labeled a “diaper bag,” the Luka Duffel from travel experts Calpak is lauded as a super mama-friendly option in style conscious circles. The lightweight nylon duffel offers nine organizational pockets, including one on the bottom for shoes that can easily double as a place to stash wet or soiled clothes. It’s large enough to take on a weekend trip but not so big you’ll feel silly carrying it day to day. And it comes in tons of fresh colors!

7AM Capri Diaper Tote
•

$132

There’s a lot to love about the family-owned 7AM Enfant. Their ultra-cozy stroller sacks make us jealous of our own kids and have saved our sanity through countless city winters. Another brand fave is the Capri Diaper Tote. It comes with multiple pockets for you to stay super organized and doubles as a gym bag without missing a beat. There’s stroller straps, a crossbody strap and changing pad for your mom-specific needs as well as a handy zip pouch so your cards and keys don’t float off into the abyss. And because they’ve thought of everything, it’s machine-washable.

Longchamp Le Pliage
•

$180

Whether it’s my elder Millennial status or the Megan Markle validation, this list would be incomplete without mention of the timeless Parisian classic–the Longchamp Le Pliage Shoulder Tote. The first in that list is enough to tell you I’ve been loyal to this bad boy since the early aughts and while it did get relegated to the attic for a stint, it made a return as a diaper bag shortly thereafter. The nylon exterior is fairly easy to wipe clean while leather handles and accents make it feel suitable for everything from baby hauling to work to travel. It’s a bag that truly never goes out of style!

Clare V. Le Zip Sac
•

$525

Clare V. lives in that sweet spot between kooky and classic, all leopard-print-meets-Left-Bank energy. Their best-selling Grande Fanny is a purse workhorse I’d defend to the death (I own three and have worn one almost daily for years), but let’s be honest, a fanny pack is not hauling the diapers, the wipes, and the spare outfit. That makes the Le Zip Sac the move, and claiming it as a diaper bag a very good excuse to treat yourself. It started life as a zip-top work tote, so pulling double duty is practically in its DNA. The zipper keeps everything corralled while you’re bent over a stroller, the buttery Italian leather only improves with every wipe-down, and there’s room for a 15″ laptop next to all the baby gear. Carry it by the top handles or sling the cotton webbing strap crossbody when your arms are full of toddler. Yes, it’s a splurge, but it’s a versatile stunner you’ll still be reaching for long after the diaper days are a memory.

Parker Clay Mari Backpack
•

$398

This is the diaper bag you’ll use throughout your baby-slinging days, into the older years and still have it kicking around when they have kiddos. Sustainably crafted from premium Ethiopian full grain leather, Parker Clay’s Mari Backpack is designed for all stages of parenthood with bottle holders, six pockets for essentials, stroller straps and a padded laptop sleeve. Their Ethiopian factories employ at-risk women, providing them a safe work environment and livable wage along with the opportunity to learn and develop new skills and advance their careers.

MIna Baie Kinney Backpack - Motherly
•

$199

If you’re on the hunt for a diaper bag backpack that’s as stylish and multifaceted as you are, look no further than Mina Baie’s Vegan Kinney Backpack. Made of microfiber vegan leather, the bag is water-resistant and easy to clean… meaning you don’t have to worry the next time a sippy cup leaks and soaks your entire bag. It has four exterior pockets and eight pockets on the inside (including an insulated bottle pocket), in addition to an attached key ring strap and and a built-in padded laptop sleeve. Not feeling the backpack style for the day? No problem. The Vegan Kinney easily converts to a cross-body or shoulder bag.

1 8d9e6a6c b6cc 42a0 8cf2 fecdfa690f0c - Motherly
•

$390

We admit it. We’re totally obsessed with all things Caraa. The Baby Bag features plenty of pockets for all the things along including an insulated exterior pocket to keep things hot or cold and can be worn backpack or cross-body style.

State Bags Lorimer Diaper Bag
•

$210

State makes some of the most high-quality, go-anywhere bags on the market and the Lorimer Diaper Bag is no exception. Two separate main pockets keep things organized while generous side pockets can easily accommodate bottles and sippy cups (and let’s be real–coffee). It also comes with a changing pad and adjustable straps which easily attach to your stroller. What’s more, each State Bag sold helps support American children and families in need.

fawn-diaper-bag
•

$149.99

Chic and versatile, The Fawn Design Diaper Bag can be worn as a cross body or as a backpack. It’s roomy without being bulky, and the wide, half-round zip top makes it easy to see what you’re looking for. The chunky gold hardware elevates the vibe and even though it’s not overly giant, it still feels as though you can fit your entire life inside. Twleve total pockets make organization easy, but if you’re looking for even more, there’s a selection of gorgeous accessories to match.

lulu-bea-diaper-bag
•

$179

With its top-loading design and stylish silhouette, the Monaco from Luli Bebé is as functional as it is gorgeous. It’s got nine pockets to keep you organized and knob base feet to keep it clean and upright when you set it down. There’s a crossbody strap included so you can opt to wear it shoulder bag style as well as stroller hooks for hands-free mode. And while it may look luxe, it doesn’t mean it’s fragile! The exterior can easily be wiped down with a damp cloth.

fk-diaper-bag
•

$179

Freshly Picked’s Classic City Diaper Bag II is the hands-free pick for moms who’ve accepted they need a backpack but won’t carry one that reads as homeroom-chic. Wipeable vegan leather and matte gold hardware keep it squarely in put-together territory, while ten pockets, an insulated bottle sleeve, and a padded compartment for a 15″ laptop mean your whole life fits inside with room to spare. The wide double-zip opening spares you the usual excavation, a grab-and-go top handle is there for the dash from car to daycare, and the changing pad tucks right in so you’re never caught unprepared.

Patagonia Terravia Tote Pack 24L
•

$109

Turns out, products designed for summiting mountains and trekking across miles also hold up for parenthood. In particular, the wildly versatile Terravia Tote Pack 24L from Patagonia. For starters, it’s light as a damn feather. Yes, it’s floppy and unstructured but that’s the glory here. The backpack-turned-tote design is super roomy for all your needs, but can be stuffed into its own pocket and brought along as a back up bag for travel. I’d say take my word for it, but I got this rec from an impossibly chic mom of five who told me it’s the only bag she ever used while dragging her kids from California to Costa Rica and everywhere in between.
