If you're a mom you've probably heard once (or a million times) about the Instagram famous Nugget. In case you haven't, Nugget is a play couch made of four foam pieces that can be used to build forts, tunnels, lounge, watch TV or for quiet time with a favorite book. Nuggets come in several beautiful colors and became a hot ticket item when the pandemic started, as parents were looking for more ways to keep their children entertained at home.
So much so that they were almost impossible to get, with couches selling out almost immediately after they dropped (yes, like singles or fancy sneakers). But it's not just kids who love Nugget couches, apparently, there is a Facebook group of parents sharing their fun times (cough cough) with the play couch. Currently, Nugget is taking backorders for most of their colors, which are estimated to start shipping in April.
I have two (which basically makes me like Nugget Royalty) and I cannot tell you the number of hours we've spent playing with or on it with my three children. My twin babies learned how to carefully get off of it by practicing over and over and over again during a snowstorm.
However, if April seems like three million years away and you need something similar to these ASAP, here are my favorite from around the web.
The OG, the sensation, the one that started all the internet memes. I have two (because if there's something I'm really good at is the internet and buying online) and my kids absolutely love them. We use them every single night for storytime right before bed, and with the frigid temperatures this winter they've been the source of endless hours of fun.
The Foamnasium comes in six muted colors and Pottery Barn ships immediately (this product is not available for pick up, so you still depend on your mail carrier to deliver on time). Made in the USA (Indiana to be specific) and GREENGUARD certified so you can be sure that your kids will be playing safely on it.
If you are looking for even more fun, these wedges are the perfect add-on for whichever play couch you get. They come in sets of two, and in three different colors.
This play couch goes from a children's loveseat to a table or a sleeping surface. Perfect to set up games on top of it for quiet time or even as a puppet theatre. It comes in eight colors and price ranges from $169-$199.
This four-piece set is perfect for babies and toddlers to learn how to crawl up and down, and do steps. Ideal for a corner, it can be rearranged in different ways for endless playtime. It comes in five different color combinations. Plus, it has over 1,300 five-stars reviews and comes with free shipping!
Made by a brand that provides crash mats for professional climbers and athletes, the Crash Couch is super safe and excellent quality. The Crash Couch is a four-piece collection made in a women-owned family factory in Ohio.
The Figgy is Shenanigan Kids' new launch and will start shipping in April/May. It comes with waterproof liners because kids are messy and velcro to help shapes stay in place. Collectively, The founders have seven kids, so clearly they know a thing or two about keeping children entertained.
The bean bag that you had in college comes nowhere near the comfort the Yogibo Max will give your family. The best seller of the Yogibo family is a couch, a bed and everything in between. Ready for kids's to use it as a fort or to lounge and read a book on. It will be an all family favorite.
The Cushy Couch is made in Canada and looks pretty similar to the OG. With four pieces (two for the base and two triangles) it comes in 11 colors (including some limited editions).
The cool thing about the Children's Factory Whatsit Couch is that it can also be split into two separate chairs, helping you avoid sibling fights over what type of fort they get to build. They come in four different color options and covers are machine washable (always a win in my book).
This folding foam sofa doubles as a play mat, providing comfortable seating and a safe play area. Perfect to use for sleepover guests, camping, cabins, dorm rooms and children's playrooms.
