The Game of Thrones star didn't mince words when it came to calling out the media.
Sophie Turner wants the paparazzi to leave her daughter alone.
"I guess yesterday some paparazzi managed to get a picture of my daughter and I," she began her message.
"And I just want to say that the reason that I am not posting pictures of my daughter and making sure that we can avoid paparazzi at all costs is because I explicitly do not want those photos out there."
"She is my daughter. She did not ask for this life, to be photographed," the Dark Phoenix star emphasized. "It's […] creepy that grown old men taking pictures of a baby without their permission. I'm sickened, I'm disgusted and I'm respectfully asking everyone to stop following us around and stop trying to take pictures of our daughter and especially printing them."
"It's disgusting and you do not have my permission," she ended her message.
Turner and her husband Joe Jonas have yet to share any photographs of baby Willa, who was born in July. The couple is dedicated to protecting Willa's privacy—and photographers need to respect that.
Turner's right: Her daughter didn't ask for a life in the public eye. For years, celebrities have asked media outlets to refrain from taking pictures of their young children. While many publications, like Motherly, refuse to share paparazzi photos of children, some still do.
It's a trend that needs to end.
We believe in empowering parents to make the best decisions for their families. Some parents enjoy sharing photos of their little ones. Whether it helps them stay connected with loved ones or they just like sharing on their social media channels—that's their call to make. Other parents prefer keeping their child's digital footprint small. The reasoning behind the decision doesn't really matter—we just need to respect the parents' decision. Period.
We applaud Turner for speaking out against the invasion of her daughter's privacy. It does appear that the outlet that originally published the photos has taken them down. Still, they never should have been published in the first place.
