The bittersweet reality of separation anxiety

I would be lying if I said this was not the most loved + needed I have ever felt in my entire life.

I learned how strong I really am when my birth plan went out the window—twice

Even though nothing went according to plan, it was, undeniably, a time of miracles.

Having a second child was not only a gift for me—but my son, too

I felt guilty for everything our first child would lose: The constant attention, the full capacity of our love.

I was just her, the mom with a toddler and an infant

Without that hard year, without that time in the trenches, I wouldn’t be able to recognize how far we’ve come.
