She’s a mom of three and the daughter of an English teacher, so Jennifer Garner understands how important teachers are this year and every year.

On Labor Day she posted a prayer to Instagram that you don’t have to be religious to relate to. Whether you pray to God, the Universe or prefer to set intentions without attributing to a higher power, Garner’s post can be individualized for every parent this September and is a great reminder of all the hard work teachers do for us every day.

“Thank you for the gifts and lessons of this summer,” she writes. “God bless teachers, faculty and administrators as they guide us through this big question mark of a school year. Bless the parents trying to make it all work. And the children who are learning to make the best of things in ways we couldn’t have predicted. Help us remember we hold each other in our hands. And please God, preserve our collective sense of humor. Amen.”

It’s so hard right now. This September isn’t what any of us or the teachers in our lives wanted. But we’re here, and we’re doing the best we can for our kids during difficult circumstances and the teachers are holding us all together.

Thank you, teachers. Garner is right. You’re guiding us as you guide our children and we’re so grateful for it.
