How would you describe your pregnant style?

Romantic, sporty, basic, girly, classic…. depending on the day! Seriously, I feel like my style has not changed too much with my pregnancy, which is admittedly a bit all over the place. One day, I am in jeans and a tee, the next, I’m in a girly dress and heels — and that is how I am still dressing! I feel lucky that I have gotten away with mainly wearing my existing wardrobe, with some strategic additions like maternity jeans (I like my cheap ones from h&m best), over-the-bump black leggings (essential!) and a few cute fitted maternity dresses to round out the closet (Hatch makes my favorites). Now that I am 32 weeks, I find that slip-on shoes and boots are in heavy rotation. Nothing with extra buckles or ties please — bending over is no fun! And, strangely (or not, if you ask Marie Kondo), having fewer options every morning is so much easier! I am definitely inspired to pare down my ‘regular’ wardrobe once I get back to my pre-pregnancy size.

Have you had any challenges learning to dress your body during this pregnancy?

I actually think it was harder to hide my growing bump in the early months that it is now that I look like I swallowed a basketball!! It’s so easy now to just throw on a dress, leggings, and great shoes and call it a day. But of course, there are days when ANYTHING I put on just looks wrong, when the proportions are off or you just feel huge in everything. Those are the days I stick to a uniform of a stretchy maternity dress, cardigan and boots.

So far, what has surprised you most during your pregnancy?

First, how AMAZING the female body is! My belly just keeps growing, and it’s unbelievable that everything just shifts and works — it’s so natural! Second, how much the baby moves around and kicks. It’s crazy. I feel like I have a budding black belt in my tummy. Third, how great I feel. I think some women have really exhausting or stressful pregnancies, and I just always thought being pregnant would probably not be so fun, but I have been super fortunate to feel really strong throughout the whole process. Being pregnant is wonderful — your body knows what to do, and it’s a really cool experience!

What are you most looking forward to sharing with your baby?

I am looking forward to truly sharing our new little girl with my partner. It may sound weird, but as supportive and engaged as he is in the whole pregnancy journey, I am the one carrying the baby, feeling the kicks, and growing this little being. I cannot wait for him to hold our little girl and have that physical connection. I think it’s going to be the most magical thing in the world!
