One of the very best parts about winter in the city is getting away from winter in the city. Spring Break! Except...now you've got a baby. Which means less daquaries, more diapers. Still, that doesn't mean you can't indulge in Spring Break fun, it's just all about the destination, mama. Take it from Lisa Carrol, founder of the Swedish children's brand Livly, who's got 4 kiddos (between 1 and 8-years-old) that she travels with on the regular. To celebrate Livly's travels to New York -- the first U.S. flagship just opened in Tribeca -- we're traveling to a few of Lisa's favorite Spring Break destinations that both you and your kiddoes will love.
NEAR: MIAMI Stay: I always recommend people who come with children to move up a bit from South Beach. South Beach is great but there are more things to do for the kids in North Miami beach, and it only take 20 min if you want to have dinner at Casa Tua or cocktails at Soho Beach House. My favorite hotel in the world is the Acqualina Hotel in Sunny Isles. It has such a great vibe, amazing food and also a great kids club. One thing that is great in Sunny Isles is that there are lots of parks which makes it fun for the whole family. Do: Spending lazy days on the beach and afternoons in nearby parks are mandatory. One thing I love about Miami is the athletic vibe that runs through the city; everyone has a team they support. A Miami Heat basketball game is always a safe bet for a good time. Eat: Makoto in Bal Harbour Mall is great for lunch, Brunch at Soho Beach house and dinners at Prime 112. Shop: Bal Harbour Mall and the Design District.
FAR: JAMAICA Stay: Montego Bay is a great place to start out from. The island is not very big so it is easy to take day trips to Negril or other great places. My favorite hotel is Sandals and the kids love it there. Do: Everything and anything! Our whole family is always excited to go to Ocho Rios and walk down the waterfall. We always stop by Rick's Cafe on our way home to catch the beautiful sunset and my husband and brother always join in on the famous cliff diving. Eat: In Jamaica you can find great food anywhere, but a great spot that we always visit is Nikkita's restaurant in Montego Bay. The jerk chicken and ital stew is something you don't want to miss! Shop: You can find beautiful island accessories almost everywhere, and downtown Monetego Bay has a great selection. Jamaica is not that much about shopping, but more about relaxing, spending time with your family and eating really well.
