Mom captures sweet first day of school moment in viral TikTok

Pandemic or no pandemic, the first day of school is fraught with nerves—for parents and kids alike. We want our kiddos to have a good time, to like learning, to make new friends, and to adjust seamlessly. We know it doesn’t always work out that way, but that doesn’t mean we don’t still want it to.

This is why one mom’s TikTok video of a super sweet moment from her son’s first day of school is going viral—basically because it’s what we all need right now.

Sometimes, a friend is all you need to get through the day. And that’s exactly what happened with this little guy. His mom says he was nervous and worried that he wouldn’t make any friends at school—but he sure did. And it’s the cutest, most pure thing ever.

“He was so worried he wouldn’t make friends at real school,” the video reads. You can see her son walking slowly, with his head down until he hears a voice across the street.

“This boy yelled, ‘Hey I have the same shirt, wanna hang out?'” the mom writes in the video. Her son looked down at his clothes, and then runs and skips all the way over to the other boy as they walk to school together.

SO. SWEET. It’ll make any heart grow three sizes just by watching this perfect little interaction.
